Our simple question to you anti-vax nuts, who didn't want the covid vaccine because you didn't have time to research what was in it. When you're dying of a burst appendix and they wheel you into the operating room and begin giving you anesthesia, fluids, and antibiotics, will you refuse the drugs and not get the surgery because you don't have time to investigate what is in the anesthesia and other drugs and fluids? Obama's style was to let others do that stuff, and bask in the limelight. My response was to the point that somehow Democrats would abhor such a comparison - no, they did not, they embraced it. And I'm not defending Trump. When I first learned of Trump's so-called "blasphemy" it seemed over the top, and I understand the push back. But as I read the subsequent commentary in the media, I see Trump disrupting the status quo (and changing the conversation away from the war with Iran). My view now: Trump opened an inroad for dialog, even legitimate criticism, of the Catholic Church.
Like me, Pope Leo XIV is age 70. Like Leo, I was raised Catholic. I spent 12 years in Catholic School. But now I am non-religious. Eleven years ago I learned of my maternal Jewish great-grandmother. Jesus of Nazareth was a good Jew, and lived an admirable life depicted in the New Testament. Healing the sick, feeding the multitude, raising the dead, and casting money changers out of the Temple. All good stuff. But Jesus paid a price, constant harassment from the Scribes and Pharisees, and ultimately a death sentence and public execution. AI says "The Pharisees were known for their strict adherence to the Law and oral traditions, while the scribes were experts in the law who could draft legal documents and teach the scriptures." I see Catholics like JD Vance and Ron DeSantis as modern day Scribes and Pharisees. And I don't see much in the Catholic Church in line with the life of Jesus of Nazareth. Pope Leo, et al, and Trump each enjoy a life of splendor.
Trump gave us an opening with the Catholic Church, and religion's influence on secular governance. Check out this photo of President Trump "seated in the Oval Office surrounded by a group of 20 or so US evangelical pastors, laying hands and praying over him for his presidency and for the ensuing conflict with Iran."

At 1:32 the actress Amber Lee Ettinger (Obama girl) says about Obama, "you're into border security". As I understand, Obama may have deported more people than Trump.
