He was simply the greatest actor of his generation. He was born to play Othello, which he did on Broadway. And then decades later he gave what we consider to be THE GREATEST speech in the history of the movies. We cannot watch this without feeling goosebumps every time.
He died on Monday at age 93. But we will have this forever and forever.
And with this speech he forever placed his imprimatur on the game of baseball- for this is baseball and this love of the game is something he communicated as only he could. Man meeting the moment? This man met this role and gave the performance and speech of his life and for the ages.

5 Miami-Dade Police officers relieved of duty for abusing overtime: Sources
Sources say the officers were putting in overtime hours when they were not even working. But according to several sources, the group worked as part of a gang unit that teamed with the FBI and federal agencies. Those sources told the Miami Herald that it was federal agents who made the discovery and who are investigating any possible wrongdoing.
His resignation email to the SAO was on twitter yesterday. Wait, thought the troll farm said he was fired!
The Herald posted his email yesterday quitting the SAO. Nicklaus looks like a decent guy. Weird how he justified that hire or would invite that kind of potential confusion. Wish the guy luck
It’s truly a phenomenon, isn’t it? One of the largest social, scientific, psychological, and human experiments in US history. How can anyone, in this day and age, follow, believe in, justify, or defend such a political imbecile? Someone devoid of the most basic humanity, empathy and morality. Someone inherently corrupt and easily corruptible, and who generally lacks so many of the qualities that are necessary to live and maintain a decent existence. The antithesis of the type of person who most of us would want and expect for own friends and families to be, but especially from the type of leader who most would entrust our own existence. An existential threat.
Yet, here we are. MAGA is real and here to stay. But this isn’t a new phenomenon. In fact, this is a very old experiment throughout the history of the world. An experiment that other generations have tried and failed. From political leaders like Hitler to pseudo religious zealots like Jim Jones to groupies like Manson, cults of personality are as old as time. Like all other failed experiments in blind mass hysteria, the constant denominator is that there’s no amount of reason, intellect, empirical data, or even emotional persuasion, that could derail cult followers from their herd mentality.
Human memory is short. It doesn’t usually last beyond a generation. It should last longer, but that would require a deeper knowledge and understanding of history. Hence the repetitive nature of historically failed experiments.
How else can you explain that anyone can follow a moron like Trump? It’s not like the guy is intellectually savvy, remotely eloquent or enjoys a magnetic personality. It’s not even that he has a cogent or compelling message. Yet, here we are. Witnessing a repeat of past failed experiments, while collectively embarrassed for being the laughing stock of the world and quietly ashamed of those who are part of it…especially so many of our own friends and families.

I don’t know the update on this investigation, but I know they are still abusing the system. It is the STOP unit (street terror offender program) which is deputized MDPD officers with ATF. I pulled their overtime hours because they sat through the entire Corey Smith hearing despite not being involved in the case, and some were billing for court until 12am - hours of overtime per day, hundreds of dollars in overtime pay, just to sit and watch. They did it through Pearson case as well, among other misconduct. The STOP unit should be investigated.
Did anyone catch the Herald article two days ago about the Corey Smith case? Moe, Curly and Larry (MVZ, Mitchell and Grossney)…the gifts that keep on giving.
I have one of them on a case. They were cleared of any wrong doing. FBI found they were where they claimed to be and SAO didn’t find any evidence to even support initial allegations.

SAO defending wasted tax payers money. They are there to intimidate. They have been removed from several trials.
Of course the SAO cleared them. Just take a look at the paperwork see who the paper trail leads to…..

Miller appeared as a witness in case, replying “no,” when asked if she witnessed anyone drinking alcohol or having sex.

Yes great article. State waiving death penalty. They will be lucky they still have a case to prosecute. Keeping the community safe not as important as covering up the shenanigans of Von Zamft, Mitchell and Hubner. Let’s turn our heads and pretend things weren’t happening. Now the community is in jeopardy if this prosecution falls apart. Could supervisors actually supervise and not just let these nuts run free.

If you read the pleadings in Pearson case, the MDPD/ATF detective Yaniel Hernandez emailed MVZ and Amy Drever the confidential federal reports detailing the testifying witnesses inconsistent statements. The defense had compelled these statements and reports for over a decade. MVZ then went on to comment to the Harold that he turned over everything in his possession that the defense was entitled to. The reports were found in MVZ and Amy Drever email inbox and Mitchell responded that the state never had possession of them. This is one of the reasons why the SAO withdrew his response. (Same detective that sat through the Smith hearing with his buddies, billing hundreds of overtime hours on the taxpayer dime despite not being involved in case)
