The banking sanctions cut off Putin/Russia from about 600 billion in reserves his has in banks overseas. We would be willing to take that freezing/forfeiture case for a reduction (slight) from our normal 33% that we charge to unfreeze and recover funds.
Do you feel ANY pride that the current nominee to the Supreme Court has a strong Miami connection? We are not feeling it.
Do you think she will be confirmed?
If confirmed, do you think the confirmation hearings would have been different/worse if she was to give the so-called Liberal Wing of the Court a majority?
BTW- the Liberal Wing of the Supreme Court are those justices that affirm warrantless search and seizures under the "inevitable discovery doctrine" as opposed to carving our yet another exception to that piece if Swiss Cheese that is called the Fourth Amendment.

Judge Bob Scola is the very best Federal Judge.
Judge Michael Hanzman is the very best Judge in the United States.
Period. End of story. Don’t make comments that anyone else is better.
Jonathan Schwartz is suspended for years but, the Bar web site shows him as eligible to practice. Hmmmm. I bet he signs up all kinds of clients while suspended. No law or rule has ever applied to him so, you watch. He'll get caught.

If the claims which have been around forever are true that Putin and Russians are behind much of the Cryptocurrency market, then Putin has been planning for this opportunity for some time and these "sanctions" won't be very effective.
It seems to me that the response of President Biden has been masterful. Showing the world the pretexts were lies, being calm in the face of nuclear saber rattling, yet, refusing take an irrevocable step that is an act of war. (No, we can’t Arc Light the convoys.) If the other guy were still in charge, we’d be dead by now. However, the population is so spun by propaganda that the man’s approval is in the toilet. I just don’t get it.
Every trial lawyer and litigant would say that Judge Mike Hanzman should be nominated for the US Supreme Court or at the very least as Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court.
He is a true academic who loves the law. His legal opinions (most over 25 pages) rival the very best law review articles. He has judicial restraint in his rulings and never steps on prior precedent or invades the space of the legislative branch. His integrity and ethics are pristine.

Jacksonville University Launches College of Law, Florida's First New Law School in 20 Years

Jacksonville University has launched a College of Law in downtown Jacksonville, supported by private funding and a $5 million commitment of public investment from Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry.
The school will launch classes in the fall of 2022 with an expected inaugural class of 20-30 students and a projected total enrollment of 150 students in fall 2024, according to the school’s announcement. It is Florida’s first new law school in more than 20 years.
“Jacksonville is currently the largest city in the U.S. that does not have a law school,” Curry said in a statement. “Too often, our citizens must choose to leave Jacksonville to pursue a legal education. This College of Law will offer a prime opportunity for current residents and serve as a magnet to attract talent back into our city and our downtown.”

Marvelous news for Jacksonville. I'm sure this new law school will be a rousing success, just like Florida Coastal School of Law and Ave Maria School of Law.
I have been following the coverage of J Hanzman's handling of the Surfside litigation, and I have substantial expertise in condo law. J Hanzman has handled this with grace, compassion, and from a deep knowledge of the law and the actual consequences of protracted litigation. It was his excellent reputation which got receiver Goldberg on board and in action, but it was even more important that he got Bruce Greer to work For Free as the mediator. The condo owners's complaint as to FMV is based on an inflated value caused by land values in general and Covid prices in particular.
We have to figure out a way to get more really experienced attorneys (Hanzman did class action work and had loads of real experience with it) to ascend the bench. While it was bad, years ago, to refuse to appoint prosecutors (see, e.g., Lenny Glick who ran only after he was turned down again and again for apptment), the present trend to appoint only prosecutors with absolutely no real life litigation and civil experience (see, e.g., Robert Watson) is enormously harmful.
