  1. The Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office agreed last week to pay $50,000 to keep a fired lawyer from suing — and from saying anything negative about his experience.

Steve Gosney, an attorney who moved his family from Daytona Beach to help clean up the troubled Miami prosecutors’ office, was fired just a month after his June start date amid controversy over a novel he wrote that is rife with sexual violence and sexist depictions of women.

In a settlement agreement, Gosney, a self-described “media personality,” agrees that “he shall not directly or indirectly disparage or defame in any way the State Attorney’s Office or any agent or employee of the State Attorney’s Office at any time and for any reason.”

    1. This was in April, by the way.

So bizarre that they folded though. Misogyny? Didn’t the Herald report outdated racist slurs showing up in that book too?

    2. 50k isn’t much and probably less than trial would cost.

    3. 50k that’s it? He should have went for more money.

    4. Gosney isn’t very smart he should have sued for way more money. $50,000 to shut up and go away is a slap in the face.

  2. When the S&P 500 gains 25% over 100 trading days — which has now happened 12 times since 1950 — stocks have been higher every instance after 3 months, and 10 of 11 times after 12 months.

  3. So what’s your point 6:53 am. Because the S&P is “only” up 11% over the past 100 days.

  4. I have defended trump on certain issues but the blowing up and killing 11 on the drug boat coming from Venezuela is highly problematic. First of all they were transporting cocaine - not fentanyl. This is gonna get worse when they talk to the families of the guys running the boat who everyone knows make very little money. These are low-level workers. I doubt that little boat was on its way to America, but instead Honduras or some other third country. They better have hard proof that it was being transported by the terrorist organization: street gang. And that it was on the way to America. Much of runs from Vz onto EU. If you wanna do something , invade Venezuela and take out their looser President. Don’t kill poor boat guys. that’s fucking nuts and over cocaine.

    1. We don’t even know what the fuck they were doing. That’s why we don’t just execute people we suspect of crimes. Believe it or not folks but the government can be wrong or outright lie.

  5. What's up with with judge Bach-Armas? I hear he is setting all DUI cases for sounding a few weeks after arraignment just to speed up he process. Anyone else had this happen to them?

  6. Why is the Fla. Atty General allowed to publicly call a district court judge an activist judge without repercussion. When did it become ok to speak with such contempt of our judges and not be subject to Bar grievance review. Feckless.

    1. When? Nov. 6, 2024 when all semblance of civility, respect, intelligence, sanity and democracy vanished. When MAGA, Miller, Loomer and all the other inmates (including the Jan 6 and presidential felons) were unleashed to run the asylum.

    2. Naw. Don't allow your ideology to blind you. It started long before that. Once social media allowed people to bash one another anonymously without consequence or repercussion, it opened the doors to mass nastiness. Of course, COVID didn't hwlp. Just look at the comments on virtually any blog, including this one. Social norms, humanity, and the Bar rules be damned. Cancel culture/public shaming are real and destroying our society. We all need to do better.
