SCORECARD

Update : In response to our snarky riff on the Problem Solving Judge, we had THE PROBLEM SOLVER spoon it right back to us, proving that she’s the right judge for the job.

 Margie Verde-Yanez

Thanks for the correction, I’ll let Chief Fajardo know. It’s Problem Solving Courts Administrative Judge. Problem Solving Courts include our Mental Health Courts and Drug Courts and Veteran’s Court, which we have in Circuit Criminal, County Criminal, DV and Dependency. They are all being consolidated into one division. So many of our participants’ lives are transformed through our program. Instead of prison and jail, we offer rehabilitation and recovery. Those of you who do not understand what we do in PSC are welcome to visit our courtroom in 4-4. It might become your favorite division. I look forward to meeting you though I won’t be able to help you with your black bean recipe.

Personally we think she should keep the title as is. Why not have a problem solving judge in an age when we have so many problems that need to be solved?

Here's your winners and losers, judge-wise. Pretty much all of the administrative judges from the prior administration are O U T out.  So much for competence, as opposed to political payback being the deciding factor.

Take a look at the new lineup, and if you are a long time and careful reader of the blog, what title immediately would catch Rumpole's eye? The answer is below.

SO....we cannot resist. There is a Chief "Problem Solving" Judge? Really? Because our well known view is that Judges are problems, and cause more than they solve (and this has nothing to do with the current "problem solver").

How does this work?

Hmm...I'm having a problem with solving Fermat's Last Theorem.  What to do? Oh, wait! I know, I'll call the Problem Solving Judge.

Or is it like Dear Abby?

Dear Problem Solving Judge, I'm having a problem with my mother-in-law. She doesn't like my black beans and rice. But my husband tells me that I make better moros than his mother. My mother-in-law is now coming over every day to watch me make dinner.  I can't think of anything to do other than cook a second dinner once she leaves. Also, I am having problems filing in probate. Can you help?

Cuban Cook & Probate Lawyer.

There is just so much here. Sometimes the blog-gods are just too generous to a humble blogger hacking away trying to post decent content. Days of draught and endless re-writes of posts trying to find something to say are rewarded when we learn there is a Chief Problem Solving Judge.

Look! In The Courtroom. It's Justice Roberts...It's Justice Cardozo, NO It's the PROBLEM SOLVING JUDGE

Yes, it's PROBLEM SOLVING JUDGE, strange visitor from another jurisdiction,  who came to Miami with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal judges. PROBLEM SOLVING JUDGE, who can change the course of mighty rivers  feeding the Everglades with an opinion, stop US steel from being sold with a simple injunction. And who, disguised as Clark Kent, mild-mannered Judge in a great metropolitan courthouse, fights a never-ending battle for truth, justice and no more continuances.

  1. BTW we are not attacking the new administrative judges per se. For example, in the only division we care about, Lody Jean is a wonderful choice as administrative judge for Circuit Criminal.

  4. Michael Barket is among the three dumbest judges on the bench. Circuit or County. He should obviously therefore be an administrative judge. Once upon a time these were respected positions held by the best of the bench.

  5. So did Milt Hirsch get screwed? My understanding was the entire reason he voted for Fajardo (which was the decisive vote) was that Sayfie would not promise him the criminal admin judge slot and Fajardo did.

    1. I think someone made that up.

    2. Nobody made that up. Uncle Milt was telling the lawyers and judges that CJ Fajardo promised him an admin position. If he had not announced it she would have kept her promise. All he accomplished was making enemies on all sides.

  6. The position of problem solving judge is to oversee the problem solving courts - mental health, drug court, and veteran’s court, to name a few. There are also several problem solving courts outside of REG, including in DV and delinquency court.

    2. Ok I’ll let it go for the sake of fun! I’m the new Problem Solving Judge. Please address me as follows: Dear PSJ, I need help with …recipes, law, random advise…. I’ll do my best to respond 😊

  8. Lody Jean is a rockstar. Love her or hate her, she is fair. if you’re incompetent or cut edges in her courtroom, you are screwed. if she respects you, and knows that you are not going to represent some thing that is untrue, she will listen and follow the law.

  9. Zachary James is a widely disliked narcissistic lightweight. So, we get Lody Jean but lose de la O and Tinkler Mendez. Is our new chief really that incompetent? May God help us

    1. “Lose” Tinkler Mendez… not a loss. De la O and Wolfson? HUGE loss.

  10. I am so thrilled that I retired from the bench. We used to have true leaders as Chief Judges and Administrative Judges. They were respected and feared.

Experienced and well liked Judges like Ellen Venzer and David Young should be running the criminal division. They have great wisdom and show much respect to all who appear before them.

This is a bunch of losers and no experience lightweights.

The 11th Judicial Circuit is in deep trouble going forward.

  13. Give me a break on Venzer. She's horrible. She's never "team player" and wouldn't do admin work. When is the last time you saw Venzer helping another judge or covering to be nice? David Young is a good guy but, doesn't like admin work.

Love Lody Jean AND Andrea Wolfson. Love Delancy too. The rest have issues.
Maybe Uncle Milton pissed off too many people with his horrible attitude and rudeness to lawyers.

    1. It just hit an all time high today. There’s an analyst report out valuing the company at SIX trillion dollars with a share price of $250 based on AI demand. So yeah I think you did the right thing up nearly 60 a share and a whole lot more upside. At least 90 a share and over five years maybe 300-500 a share. There was an Industrial Revolution. Then the internet revolution in 1995. And now an AI revolution. Just as the internet changed life on earth forever. So will AI. If you want another play check out Marvel MRVL it’s going to run $50 a share before end of 2026.

    2. Anything else in addition to MRVL?

And you also don’t pelt comments about living people, or about judges you’re cozy with, or lawyers that you kick back with, or cases in litigation, or cases pending appeal, or cases, or people. In other words, Mr. Censorship, why continue with this blog? So you could show off your history, sports, and investment prowess? F** Off!

  16. Milton got what he deserved. He betrayed Sayfie and De La O because of his foolish pride and ambition. The nerve of saying he deserved to be administrative judge and demanding that as a condition for his vote for Sayfie. His entire career as a great defense lawyer is now sullied by his crass narcissism as a judge. Fajardo gave him nothing in return for his betrayal of Sayfie, who was the best possible chief the defense bar could ever get. Don't let the door hit you on the way out Milt.

  17. Betrayal of sayfie - lol. Nushin got what she deserved. she picked a fight with Ariana and lost. That’s life. My question is how does Simon get a spot when she was ride or die Safie?

  20. NVDA Is running hard. Vix is below 17. sort of missed the boat on crvw and palantiar BUT suro capital ssss is a vehicle that owns a lot of crvw and Pltr and several other startups as they invested in early rounds. As the lockup dates for those shares expire suro is going to book high profits and and they are required to return 90% to share holders in distribution so it’s a nice income play
