Florida's Governor has banned the use of a word, starting with H, that is used to describe a weather phenomenon with cyclonic action that rhymes with...well, we cannot think of anything it rhymes with, but it is the name of the U of Miami sports teams.
The tragic news is that the system, which will be named Helene if the winds exceed 74 mph, is bearing down on the west coast of Florida right where ....wait for it....most of Florida's judiciary is now located at their judicial college (Motto: "Sometimes wrong, never in doubt."). This means that their vacation seminars on Thursday and Friday will be canceled and your favourite Judges will be scurrying (adjective intentionally used to make reference to something else which scurries) home ahead of the storm.
Here are the seminars being canceled which will be reset.
Thursday 9-11 am: Gavel Selection: "The gavel chooses the Judge Mr. Potter."
Thursday 1-4 pm: Calendar scheduling. Or "How I show up at 11 for my 9 am calendars and you can too!" (Requires subscription to Instagram Account "@Just_ Judgin" ).
Thursday 5:30-8 pm: Vodka Martini Mixology. Those cutups from the new 6th DCA show off their bartending skills whipping up the best vodka martinis. Highly recommended for the lawyer who is told she cannot use fear in a self-defense case and loses the appeal PCA.
Friday 9-11 am. Voir Dire- who needs it? Strategies to shut lawyers down in jury selection and move the trial along- tee times at 5pm don't open up very often- neither do mani-pedi appointments at your fav salon.
Friday 1-4 pm. Second Continuances? Surely you jest. You tried every case within a month of getting it when in private practice. There's no reason every lawyer cannot be as successful and efficient as you were.
Friday 530-8 pm. Elevator Pitches made simple over wine. The doors close and you find yourself alone with the Governor's chief of staff in an elevator. You have 15 seconds to explain why you should be elevated to circuit court/district court of appeal/ Florida Supreme Court. Choose a wine flight (California Cabs; Interesting Pinot Noirs; Racy Rose's) and sip and learn.
When you see your favourite judge make sure to tell them how sad you were to learn that a pesky storm had the temerity to interfere with their important judicial studies.
Who resigned today?
ReplyDeleteI don’t know? I think someone is just messing with us.
DeleteGosney’s troll farm
DeleteRump u have no idea how wild those 6th DCA guys are. They challenged the rest of the state to a tequila shot contest. Proud to say the last two standing besides the 6th were our own judges from the 3rd and one tough sob from the keys who kept doing shots until they literally toppled over. It was very impressive
ReplyDeleteAlcoholics
DeleteOur country just executed a likely innocent man. What a disgrace as a society.
ReplyDeleteBest prosecutor in that office resigned I hear. Not a good day for citizens of Miami-Dade.
ReplyDelete“Best” is subjective now spill the beans!!!!
Delete🤮
DeleteWho? Why don’t people just say the name. It’s not a secret if they resigned.
DeleteBloody hell! Who is it? Bunch of wankers.
Delete@3:41 am. Well, I guess that rules out Professor Abuhoff, ugh. Why can't a top insurance law firm come and poach him already? Why can't anyone see his talents and do us that favor?
Delete12:11 saying the quiet part out loud
Delete12:11 am, if talent is a pre-requisite we’ll be waiting for that favor for a long time. 🥱
DeleteThere are worse than him.
Delete@ 12:11 Abuhoff is waiting for an AUSA position. Too bad he surrounds himself with AUSA rejects.
Delete@8:03 pm
DeleteWell, the current leadership at the US Attorney's Office in Miami has been hiring some peculiar characters lately so that he may have a shot. However, he is terrible in court (he can’t argue his way out of a traffic ticket without lying), he doesn’t know the rules of evidence, and he doesn’t fit the DEI requirements, so he will have to wait until they are desperate. Maybe he can start in the forfeiture section if he is hired.

Biggest fraud coverup
isn't.....isn't this story from 2023? Or is there another?
DeleteIt’s the same it needs to be looked into. I smell a cover up.
DeleteYes and they were cleared, initial allegation was unfounded and they were innocent.
DeleteCleared because It was covered up.
DeleteCleared by who?
DeleteAnd they were investigated by who?
DeleteTheir own department. Cool.
Delete@4:11 it’s closed make a 119 for the memo
DeleteCleared by same people involved.
DeleteCleared by who? Same person who has them on the payroll?
DeletePhony memo to cover up corruption. Say it ain’t so.
Delete@8:34am “Yes and they were cleared, initial allegation was unfounded and they were innocent.” Little defensive aren’t we?
DeleteDetective Yaniel Hernandez on the STOP unit (who was raking in overtime for court til midnight) texted the cooperating witness on Pearson’s case that I (me, the attorney) was “making shit up as I go”…. State turned the text messages over to their credit. Then lo and behold the judgment and sentence was vacated due to the “shit I was making up” (right). They should be investigated for more than just abusing taxpayer money. They tamper with and intimidate witnesses. We had two defense witnesses on Pearson case who showed up to court but after the detectives were hovering over them in the hallway they didn’t come back the next day to testify. One said he thinks he was being followed when he left the courthouse. Disgusting abuse of power.
DeleteIt’s undersell and over deliver, Michele. Not over sell and under deliver. This post isn’t talking about Hernandez or STOP.
DeleteJust do your 119, unless none of you really care about the truth of your allegations.
What was the date of the messages, who did they go to within the state and what date were they turned over. Do you feel they were withheld in any way or turned over immediately and timely in discovery as a potential statement of a witness. .
Delete
Delete“Yes and they were cleared, initial allegation was unfounded and they were innocent.” Who signed off on the overtime? Cleared to save someone’s ass.
@ 8:48 I’m not sure which officer were “investigated and cleared” as discussed in this post, and never said I did know. But I do believe the STOP unit does the same RE abusing overtime. I did do a chapter 119 and reviewed time entries for overtime which included court until midnight. Not selling anything here, just contributing to the conversation.
Delete@9:05 as mentioned in my comment, to the states credit the messages were turned over appropriately.
8:48 why request a 119 that’s a cover up memo.
DeleteMake a complaint

People in the department(s) felt mvz controlled way too much. Speak to some of the retired cops. He was the puppeteer. He routinely conveyed to them that everything he was doing was with Rundle’s blessing. The first el Mula arrest was dismissed 10 months later because bill brown couldn’t get him to confess. He was placed with him multiple times in a cell or the yard to try to make that happen. None of this is surprising.
DeleteMisappropriation of funds is the illegal use of another person's money or property for personal gain or other unauthorized purposes.
DeleteMVZ overstepped his role as a prosecutor and the constitution both before charges were filed, by directing the investigations of the police to his liking, and after charges were filed, by placing informants with represented defendants.
Delete@6:59 you’ve posted that a lot and it’s not true. The first el Mula arrest was Barnes, he was tried and convicted. The second el Mula arrest was Buckner. His case was dismissed because cops messed up Miranda. That case was dismissed less than 3 months after arrest and after Buckner changed his mind on cooperating.
Delete@6:59 your heavily invested in this aren’t you. Withholding evidence is a crime btw.
Delete“His case was dismissed because cops messed up Miranda” Music to my ears!
DeleteIt’s the Wild Wild West baby. Money talks. Cops are like prostitutes pay them and they do anything for you. Double dipping the OT? Miami is the banana republic. Back to the 80’s are we? MDPD north side 24 hour shifts 7 days a week. Has to be the hardest working unit in the country.
DeleteWhere is the oversight committee? You can’t have these rogue ASA’s at will acting like MVZ.
Delete@6:21 “wHy ReQuEsT a 119 ThAt’S a CoVeR uP mEmO.”
DeleteBecause if you actually believed it was a cover up you would pursue it. But you don’t believe it. You’re just talking shit.
Who is el Mula?
DeleteWas Buckner not placed with William Brown on multiple occasions for several months AFTER detectives got his initial confession that you say was in violation of Miranda?? Answer is YES. BUT why hold him if you knew his confession was a Miranda violation? Why put him with Brown?? We all know why VZ. The more you try to justify the more it will ALL come out.
Delete1:27 pm, spoken like a true clueless and rookie prosecutor. Who, despite your own corrupt practices, you still believe that all curruption is easily discovered. I got news for you Daniel son, if all it took to uncovered police and prosecutorial corruption was public records requests, that would be a great day for lady justice. Unfortunately, most of this corruption is never unearthed and people die in prison. Now go back to Neverland.
Delete1:27 pm, “spoken like a true clueless and rookie prosecutor.” Actually spoken like a veteran ASA /AUSA reject.
DeleteMVZ absolutely overstepped his role as a prosecutor in multiple cases and that will negate his prosecutorial immunity in many of his cases where misconduct has been found.
DeleteYou want to find corruption and fraud it’s right under your nose. A 119 isn’t going to tell you anything.
Delete@6:21 “wHy ReQuEsT a 119 ThAt’S a CoVeR uP mEmO.”
Delete“Because if you actually believed it was a cover up you would pursue it. But you don’t believe it. You’re just talking shit.“. You dare me? Feds are phone call away.
Is fraud and corruption misappropriated grant funds well that’s a thin line. When you have the henchmen making three times their salary it gets a little suspicious.
Delete@9:47 - it was a fed investigation and got cleared. The cops never did anything wrong. Request the memo.
DeleteCleared because it was covered up by lies.
Delete“The cops ever did anything wrong” yea OK
DeleteNice scam they had going. Let’s see who signed off on all that overtime?
DeleteJust throw a name out there who signed all that paperwork???
DeleteReally someone should audit.
DeleteThe cops did nothing wrong …yeah ok.
Delete“Court slips”
DeleteFeds can’t count to ten you expect a thorough investigation.
DeleteFeds are dumber than dirt. They wouldn’t know where to start with their investigation.
DeleteHere is a tip to young prosecutors when the cops come to you with blank “court slips” over time slips. Don’t sign them unless they are filled out with a date time and location. Make sure you know their schedule, if they are on duty when they come see you there is no need for a “court slip”.
Delete@9:00 as if prosecutors won’t do anything to assist cops. They gotta be buddy buddy and complicit so the cops stay dumb and testify however they need them too. Prosecutors don’t give a flying fuck about cops abusing overtime pay.
DeleteThey even give them “overtime” offices at the SAO.
DeleteDon’t forget conjugal visits by detectives are considered gratuity. You must disclose that to Lorna.
DeleteYou people convict ASAs and cops on scant evidence, hearsay, and conjecture but your clients are innocent even when they confess to police, confess in jail calls, and tamper with witnesses/evidence. The gaslighting is incredible.
Delete9:34pm You defecting? How many blank court slips you signing?
Delete@9:34 was that your signature?
Delete9:34 spitting lies to cover up the corruption. Sign away.
Delete9:34pm gaslighting? You must be blind or dumber than dirt. The SAO is the quint essential establishment of Gaslighting. You’re full of shit.
DeleteWas Gosney let go because he was seen by the higher ups as a potential corruption whistleblower?
ReplyDeleteNo way. Word is his judgement was way off as seen by the relentless inappropriate statements he made on his pods. How he mocked women on his pods calling those successful the result of a rich mommy and daddy and/or calling them bottom of barrel. A majority of the women and some men refused to work with him. He also made creepy comments like young women need to show men more attention so the world would be better. People felt uncomfortable to be around him and complained . Some of the judges would parrot his own words back to some of us in a mocking way. Now that Arrojo is back the fab 4 can’t cover corruption or misconduct anymore.
DeleteHe was let go because he was seen as a potential nut.
DeleteThat’s a very logical theory, but if true it confirms what a shitty vetting job they did because that concern would’ve been obvious prior to hiring him.
DeleteMr. "No way." You are a major liar ...
Delete@9:58 “potential nut” well that’s no means for termination as 90% of division chiefs are nuts themselves.
DeleteWhat ever happened to ANDREW BOROS?
ReplyDeleteHe used to be a fixture at the Justice Bldg
Folks, wake up, can’t you see that all of the comments across the various posts about resignations and other drama at the SAO is the work of one or more ASAs (mostly during work hours, so maybe Rundle should look into how much some of these people actually work) in order to fuel the fire, fuck with defense lawyers, etc. Nothing scandalous is currently happening at the SAO.
ReplyDeleteRundle doesn’t look into anything. She doesn’t know where she is most of the time.
DeleteSomething scandalous is 100% happening.
DeleteGreat way to deflect
DeleteHe is happily retired with his lovely wife Fran and living in New Mexico, where he frequently plays golf with Ted Koppel. I am sure he will be thrilled to gain mention on the blog.
ReplyDeleteNeed advice. My gf is ten yrs younger former LSU cheerleader works in private clubs hosting makes about 20k a week. She continually uses air quotes whenever she talks and uses words like “jejune “ all the time completely incorrectly. She and her roommate run scams - one guy bought them a 911. Last year some Silicon Valley older guy they met in the club gave each of them 250 shares of nividia. She claims that she’s smarter than me because she earns so much more cash than me every week. How can I get her to stop acting like an idiot ? Or is this broken?
ReplyDeleteWait a year and get a new, younger girlfriend. Break the news over text. Tell her how great she is, money can't purchase back 5 years...but it can buy Viagra, and wish her the best.
DeleteShe’s smarter than you bud.
DeleteMarry her and get her pregnant. Big time child support and alimony award in your future.
DeleteWhat is her @
DeleteHey 6:57am. Move to Switzerland and get out of this swamp. All the girls here in Miami will do anything for Nvidia and Coke.
ReplyDeleteThere’s an irony - intended or not - in her wrongful use of jejune.
ReplyDeleteHey 6:57am. Way ahead of you on that one. Ive been spending months there for years. IYKYK
ReplyDeleteWhy am I not the wealthiest attorney around? So many of you sound like subnormals
ReplyDeleteDon’t they have Nvidia and Coke in Switzerland? Every g beautiful Russian girl there on Lake Geneva or in Zermatt with their oligarch boyfriend or Miami trial lawyer is an Nvidia and Coke whore.
ReplyDeleteSorry. Just my observation. But Nvidia looks to be volatile in a small trading area for the remainder of 2024.
Therefore, a drop off in beautiful girl tourism for now perhaps. Coke still at good values. Haha.
News is Arrojo is pissed. He came back to an office in complete disarray. Kathy really lost control of the office. The decline started after Talpins got hired.
ReplyDeleteNot true, decline started after Hernandez and Cuervo got promoted. Let’s not make this about Talpins.
DeleteSo, what’s Arrojo going to do about it?
DeleteNo, things went down hill when [insert name of prosecutor with whom I have axe to grind] got promoted.
DeleteYawn.
@8:58 I can second that, Hernandez and Cuervo are insufferable and should be fired. Both are absolutely impossible to work with and have abhorrent personalities.
DeleteIn order to have an abhorrent personality a personality is required, and one of these two has zero personality. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Never had it. Never will. I’ll let you all guess who that is.
DeleteArrojo is literally starting to listening to people…. He is trying to help
DeleteI have some faith in Arrojo, it’s the rest of the deputy chiefs that need to be replaced.
DeleteHave we discovered who quit at the SAO? Do we know why? Do we not care anymore? Still waiting for the tea…
ReplyDeleteWasn't it Adams b/c of an intense discussion with KFR?
Delete“Intense discussion” gotta be more to it.
DeleteWho quit such a desired position as an ASA?
ReplyDeleteRundle’s manipulation and disloyalty to those who serve her are coming back to %#*k@ her. No o one will continue to hold her secrets. She trashes everyone behind their backs and pits one against the other. She is a scary narcissist who should be replaced. An absolute embarrassment for this community. .
ReplyDeleteHer and her chiefs shit on the FACDL.
DeleteIf they disregard and backstab their own employees so blatantly which has resulted in an unparalleled mass exodus they won’t give a crap about FACDL or anyone else. They use people and toss them aside.it is a sick sick place
DeleteMass exodus? SAO is fully operational.
Delete“Operational” HA HA HA now that’s a funny
DeleteThey hire ANYBODY do you see the lil dweebs that walk in that door? They don’t even know what an information is.
DeleteComical comment - ask any chief asst - they have no clue how the office is surviving and they say it.
DeleteWe’ve got 50 new hires.
DeleteProbably all PD rejects
