JUDICIAL ROUNDUP FALL 2023 Ed.

Can't tell the players without a program... can't tell where your favourite judge is without The Blog.

Who's zooming whom?

We know.....

Judge Watson from REGJB to Civil (yuck) starting 9/18. See ya- wouldn't want to be ya. Summary judgements and all that. Ewwww.

MAYBE Judge Laura Gonalez (just bumped to Circuit by Gov BS DS) to the REGJB to replace Judge W,  but maybe not... Judge Wolfson will help out until then.

Judge Javier Enriquez to Circuit DV (Double Yuck)

Judge Christine Bandin (also bumped to Circuit by Gov
BS DS) coming to the REGJB because she heard we have good Cuban coffee. And she's right.

County Judge Alicia Garcia Priovolos leaving the REGJB to County DV (why would anyone willingly go without kicking and screaming?)

And let's give a warm REGJB welcome to NEW judge Rita Cuervo who will replace    Judge AGP (kinda good nickname doncha agree?)

  1. Does this mean the clerk will finally stop sending me notices with Seraphin's name on them?

  2. Big vindication for Seraphin today.

  3. I am lost. Who is up for reelection? Has anyone drawn opposition?

  4. More unprofessional and pompous behavior from Judge Milton Hirsch cutting off the zoom meeting when a defense lawyer was trying to find out the status of his client's case.

  5. Why do they always move the good judges out of REG?!?! Move the bad judges out!!!!

  6. The only dubious thing floating around is payment connected to Hunter. An impeachment inquiry on this conjecture? Give me a break. More like thought control for the cult members. Well, we will see how much the voting public will tolerate this bad-faith circus maneuver. Ever the gentleman, I don't hear Biden screaming that it is a "witch hunt."

  7. Thank you for shining light on the spoiled brat rudeness and mean spirited behavior of Milton Hirsch. Who the F does he think he is? I refuse to accept cases in his division and urge others who find him intolerably offensive to do the same. BTW: He does not recognize or honor Notices of Unavailability.

  10. Re: Judge Hirsch: Am I correct that he is being criticized for not providing information to a drop-in, probably sitting-in-his(or her's)boxers Zoom lawyer who wants info? My favorite, though, is his failure to respect a "Notice of Unavailability.: What rule is this under, and does it include a statement that the other lawyers inconvenienced by that groundless filing have agreed?

    1. His Majesty is unnecessarily rude and still doesn’t seem to understand that the legal world doesn’t revolve around him or his ego. He actually comments that He takes lawyers physically in court over those on Zoom who don’t “bother” to come to court. (That’s a quote from Him). Well, His Majesty doesn’t pay our bills and His courtroom is no more important than any other. Some of us who HAVE to be in another courthouse (or jurisdiction) MUST appear by Zoom. You see, our report re PTI acceptance before His Majesty (a stupid redundancy we often encounter) just isn’t important enough for us to “bother” missing jury selection for our trial with Judge Moore. Sorry, not sorry. Next time, instead of waiting for over an hour to be called on Zoom, we will just blow off His Majesty and make Him waste HIS TIME writing an order to drag us in on a rule to show cause. (We also won’t bring our checkbook).

  11. There is case law that states there is no such document called a Notice of Unavailability

  12. It would seem to me that it is on the attorney to reschedule a hearing when s/he is unavailable or at least email the court asking to reschedule a hearing. It’s not the judge’s responsibility to keep track of every attorney’s schedule. Judge’s don’t just schedule things on their own.

  13. 5.07 is of course correct; there is no such legal paper as a Notice of Unavailability. "Civi" lawyers use them all the time, hoping their opponents will offer them that courtesy, but during the N Of Un period, the noticer's partner or associate will feel free to file some paper which will use up your expected winter vacation or time you needed for other work you have before you.

So glad to at last read some --- fully accurate --- criticism of Judge Milton Hirsch! What an arrogant and wordy non-judicious warmer of the judicial bench! I was so disappointed to see him get a judgeship --- unopposed!!! -- in the first place. The latest example of his time-wasting on the public dime was the unnecessary and unfiled "Order" denying a search warrant. All he had to do was tell the cops, Sorry, don't think you've got enough PC; try again. But Nooooooooooooo. . . .
