SET THE BOND

It's time to play...YOU ARE THE JUDGE. Everyone can play, even those with a predilection for wearing black at work.

What bond would you set?

The defendant has no prior record. He is 75 years of age, and a successful businessman, with properties overseas, extensive world travel in the last six years, and access to significant funds.

The charges are non-violent and relate to a violation of ethics and certain reporting requirements. Upon conviction he would face a minimal amount of incarceration, along with home confinement and probation.

What bond would you set?

Additional facts: The defendant is also under federal investigation for various acts of fraud, and a total of two state court investigations.

Now what bond would you set?

Additional facts: The defendant was involved in publicizing and praising the acts and affrays of a violent crowd of people.

Now what bond would you set?

We are under an INDICTMENT WATCH  for the 45th President of the United States. New York will be the first shoe to drop, followed by Georgia, and then the feds. Will he get bond in all three cases?

What bond would you set?

  1. ROR. After his first public comments, he will be ordered not to comment on the prosecutors or case. He will then violate the order. A warning, a violation, a second warning a violation. Then, just revoke his bond and stick him in jail until the trial. No judge has the balls, but any other defendant would go down that way.

  2. No bond, but with the condition of a gag order the terms of which I would have to think about much longer than I am willing to dedicate to an anonymous blog comment.

(I'm a civil guy. 50/50 mix of civil lit and transactional. Never set foot in criminal court, so please be gentle if a gag order isn't an available condition.)

  3. Own Recog. The second coming of Jesus Christ would get less attention. He would escape to a remote island only if that island were the only place in the world with a microphone and TV camera.

  4. Here's a rival hypo: A rogue island nation in the Pacific, known for its delicious bananas, has imprisoned a journalist for life for publishing unflattering data leaked from the regime. It has recently committed an act of global terrorism, exploding the critical infrastructure of other nations to foment war support among them. The environmental consequences alone are disastrous. It now proposes to arrest the leader of its opposition party alleging a campaign finance misdemeanor from six years ago.

This nation insists it should be taken seriously.

    Do you take it seriously?

    1. I pray they indict him on something. This is his only chance of beating Biden and restoring the world to peace and the nation to prosperity.

I would order no bond. Better to have him run from jail so long as he can give jail house rallies.

  6. Jail? A similar asshole was jailed in Germany, and that’s where he wrote that dammed book.

  7. What happens if Trump refuses to surrender and our fascist governor refuses to allow extradition? Interesting?
