FED NOMINATIONS RUBIO COMMITTEE

The nominations from the Rubio committee,  the story first broken on Mr. Markus's blog, are:

For the position of US District Judge, the Commission recommends:
David Leibowitz and Detra Shaw-Wilder

For the position of US Attorney, the Commission recommends:
Jaqueline Arango, Markenzy Lapointe, and Andres Rivero,

For the position of US Marshal, the Commission recommends:
Gadyaces Serralta

We have yet to hear from the Warren Commission, the 9/11 Commission, the committee on Pollo la plancha; the committee on committees and the committee on multiple judicial committees.

What does this mean? Nobody knows. Could be a long time until we get some confirmations. One would think that if someone was nominated that Rubio did not approve, he would blue-slip the nomination and that ala Will Thomas, would be that.

  1. Gosh RUMPOLE - I would love to support Florida Governor DeSantis … but he is so IGNORANT in ruling today that school children will NOT wear masks. How can he disregard science??

Also RUMPOLE - please please please let us know your thoughts regarding the STOCK MARKET and your picks for the remainder of 2021?

We love Cramer, but honor your stock picks over the years and your view on the economy. In my mind, the low VIX is signaling a buy on every dip several months ahead?

  3. I simply cannot see what good it does to advertise who was in a courtroom last week and is now positive. Really. If you don't say the name, nobody and I mean nobody gains by having this info. I am not in favor of saying names either.

Now, if almost everyone in a courtroom two days ago got sick, yea, I want to know that today.

Remember when your older friends sent you alerts about computer viruses? Lotta good that did, huh.

  4. What a joke. Federal judgeships being bought.

  5. They ain’t bought until the deal is closed. Very doubtful that Biden’s patron Braman will get his way here. If he does it’s because we have no Democratic Party in this state.

  6. I am going to run against Seraphin or Venzer if they continue to refuse to call lawyers out of turn. Fred kept people until late in the afternoon last week. Venzer just gives everyone dirty looks and the lawyers just leave and come back later.

Really, I am going to run against one of you two. Both of you are burnt out and should be sent to probate.

    1. Venzer is rich and will crush u like the roach that you are and I will write her a check. She loves me. Fred is one of the only black judges on the bench so u will either be branded a roach or a racist. Have fun with that you bottom feeder.

  10. Venzer has become horrible

  11. I too had to sit in Venzer's court and wait while pro se defendants bitched about nonsense.

  12. You call me a "bottom feeder" for being upset about Venzer and Seraphin wasting so much lawyer time. What are you? BTW, lobster are "bottom feeders."

    1. Exactly. I often say the worst creature to be is a lobster because they are so stupid and taste so good. Everyone hunts them. They are so easy to catch and kill too. Be proud bottom feeder.

  14. Venzer used to be OK but, lately she seems completely burnt out. Maybe its COVID to blame.

  15. If the defense bar had an ounce of power in this town, or if Carlos & Kathy had any weight, NONE of the routine calendar maintenance stuff would ever come back in-person.

However slight the risks are to people in the courtroom -- and I venture to say they are not slight -- there is nothing gained by drawing hundreds of personnel into REG for someone one announce, "not guilty", or "requesting a first time continuance".

The courthouse should be used for trials, evidentiary hearings, pleas, and those matters for which attorneys or parties request a personal audience.

    1. Miamians will stay healthier with fewer people there

    2. State employees (PDs, ASAs, clerks, etc) will work more efficiently

    3. Lawyers charging clients fees will be able to accept less, due to efficiency

The burden ought to be on those arguing for a complete return to justify why the supposed gains (judges managing caseloads, attorneys resolving cases) cannot be achieved virtually through responsible work.

Returning completely in-person is like owning a horse and buggy in 1929, having your horse die, and using the opportunity to buy another one. We've all suffered this year, but we have also been given a chance to do things much better.
