Since the lockdown Rumpole has...
Argued two appeals (by phone)
Filed three briefs;
Obtained or assisted in obtaining bond for a dozen individuals across the country;
Assisted in a half a dozen compassionate release motions; AND
Done over 50 loads of laundry; learned the intricacies of a contraption called "the Swifter"; researched the efficacy of Remdesivir (as an antiviral) and Downy ( as a fabric softener).
We have drank a Caymus Petit Syrah (2017- very juicy and hints of vanilla), grilled a wagu ribeye or three, perfected a martini and an Old Fashioned; experimented with a variety of recipes for the best breakfast smoothie, and cleared our email inboxes (plural) of the incessant "Virus Update"..."Florida Supreme Court Order"..."Another great federal order on release, this one from South Dakota"..."Virus Update"(yeah, we repeated it because we get so many of them)…. ad nauseum.
There is so much to do and explore and think about without the incessant pressures of work. Why must everyone spend their days sitting by their computer sending out emails with copies of orders we have received from a dozen other people? Meditate. Bake. Do Yoga. Read a book. Watch a film noir. Read another book. Eat the cookie you baked. STOP EMAILING. Stop trying to be in the middle of something we cannot control. The Beatles said it well- Let It Be. Let It Be. It will work out. Speaking words of wisdom-Let it Be.
Have to go...the dryer buzzed!
Tanned, toned public interest lawyer. Former Collegiate Volleyball player and current weekend Yoga instructor seeks rugged, successful business-man type for Covid-cozy nights. You should have a place with a pool, and either a gym or a room for me to do yoga/Pilates and YOU MUST HAVE AT LEAST 20 ROLLS OF TOILET PAPER. This is non-negotiable. I come equipped for fun. Email covidcozy@gmail.com with a pic (of you and the toilet paper) to start the fun.
ReplyDeleteKOWABUNGA! (heart eyes)
ReplyDeleteZzzzzzzzzzzz and thanks for making me feel even poorer than I already am. While you are swilling on waygu beef and Caymus, on my P.D. salary and massive loans I get to grill beef chuck and drink Bud Light.
ReplyDeleteMy dear Reader- first, you have a Job and a paid salary and in these times you are ahead of most attorneys. Second- the wine was a gift and the meat frozen from a shipment we get every few months. We are, like all Americans, tightening our belt. Our summer in Europe has been put on hold. As was a spring time trip to NYC for shows and museums. Caviar? Now only domestic. (sigh). We are suffering as well. Hang in there. We are all in this together, it is just that some of us have pool houses and boats, and estates to ramble on and some small terraces in downtown apartments stuffed in with hoi polloi.
ReplyDeleteRudy Sorondo appeal dismissed because third dca did not have jurisdiction. How much did the client pay for that cluster you know what.
