So our question today is....who's next? Who has that rare combination of talent and political pull to garner an appointment and lifetime job of lunches at Joes and sentencing enhancements for the unpardonable sin of going to trial and losing? It's a good gig if you can get it.
It's Over Johnny...
The puzzling, unexpected, and sad saga of L'Affair Brennan ala Florida Keys has concluded with the decision not to charge her son with a DUI (Herald article here)-the event that precipitated the Rube Goldbergesque chain of events that ended with an arrest warrant for a circuit judge.
Truth is stranger than fiction. And Miami truths are stranger than all.
See you in court.
I vish to register an official complaint and challenge against Jon Colby and Ken Weisman in the survivor pool. I believe dey are conspiring, combining, and confederating with each oder in attempt to vin the pool by cheating and underhanded play. I believe dat I should be reinstated and dey should be disqualified. Please advise at your earliest convenience. vhat dey are dooin is bullsheeeeet.
ReplyDeleteTank you.
Hanzman has big time political friends. In particular Braman, Colson, Kadre and Tropin. They will go to bat for him.
DeleteDid you forget former Broward Circuit Court Judge James I Cohn who is a Federal Judge to the north.............Thanks
ReplyDeleteIt is already decided.
ReplyDeleteThe next Federal Judge is:
JUDGE MICHAEL HANZMAN
I've dealt with that Monroe ASA. I've given him plenty more to drop a case, and he refused, I wonder if Brennan paid him off, too
ReplyDeleteDawn Denaro is next
ReplyDeleteHanzman is a total rock star. Read his 4th DCA opinions and countless trial court orders taking apart legal issues like a surgeon. This dude should have been a fed judge long ago. Brilliant , always prepared and knows how to treat lawyers. The real deal. A successful lawyer who gave it up for public service. Exactly what we want on bench. Our next fed judge for sure. Done.
ReplyDeleteFor those of us that practice in federal court there could be no better appointment than Judge Hanzman. He is one of if not the smartest hardest working judges on the bench.
ReplyDeleteWe need to stop the state to federal pipeline.
ReplyDeleteNo one more qualified than Judge Hanzman.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if anything is ever "decided" as noted above, but we in SoFL would be lucky to have Judge Hanzman apply! We need a jurist with legal acumen and common sense. As someone who has won and lost in front of him (and won and lost in federal court), he would be my first pick for smart, fair, experienced, ethical, good character, integrity and judicial temperament. In fact, Hanzman has them all -http://www.apursuitofjustice.com/the-qualities-of-a-good-judge/
ReplyDeleteHanzman is a very bright man
ReplyDeleteI think Will Thomas would make an excellent federal judge.
ReplyDeleteThe fix was in.
ReplyDeleteSorry to rain on the Hanzman coronation, but your next federal judge has the Vowels De La and O.
ReplyDeleteJudge Hanzman is the most qualified. I have had a couple of cases in front of him and he knows the law, cuts through the BS and rules accordingly. If he is not sure how to rule he orders the lawyers to submit briefs on the issue. In one of my present cases, he came back from vacation to hear a calendar call. He is a great judge who gave up a lucrative private practice I hear he is worth 27 million or so making it as a Plaintiff's class action attorney. I would hate to lose on the state bench as we have crap but he would make an awesome federal judge. Kind of in the cut of the great John Gleeson of the EDNY. No black robe fever here unlike the life prosecutors'who come over from criminal with no civil or life experience. Judge Hanzman has my backing....
ReplyDeleteDawn Denaro or Hanzman
ReplyDeleteCan you say:
ReplyDeleteU.S. District Court Judge SIR KENNY WEISMAN?
No one is tighter to President Donald Trump than Sir Kenny.
Hanzman is definitely next up. From our current REG roster: De la O, Ruiz, and Luck all strong possibilities. And all three would be great. What say you, Rump?
ReplyDeleteRump, what about the Third DCA? With Shepherd retiring soon, who from REGB is in line for an appellate spot?
ReplyDeleteJudge Hanzman will be a fine addition to our Federal Bench , tried and true.
ReplyDeleteJudge Hanzman will be a fine addition to our Federal bench, tried and true. He's smart as a whip, gets to the heart of the matter, fair-minded and after listening to all sides always renders well written and thoughtful opinions.
ReplyDeleteHanzy is top notch, and DLO ain't a slouch either.
ReplyDeleteI have to object to the comment that Diminatous a/k/a "fast Bill" is a decent judge. He is arrogant, and very government minded, as he was when he was a state judge. He still thinks he is a prosecutor. He must of had great political connections because he did not get the appointment based on his legal knowledge or temperament. I have had the misfortune to appear before him in both state and federal court and try cases in federal court before him. Not a pleasant experience fighting with the Government and then taking on Fast Bill as well.
ReplyDeleteThe next federal judge will be whoever Fred Moreno says it will be.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if anything is "already decided" or not, but we would be lucky to have Judge Hanzman. He has all the qualities of a good judge - smart, efficient, experienced, fair, integrity...I have won and lost in front of him and appreciate his service. He's exactly the type of judge for federal court we all should want.
ReplyDeleteI handled an extremely complex dispute involving claims made against an employee fidelity bond by companies that lost money investing in a Ponzi scheme. Case went nowhere for six years. Adm Judge finally assigned Hanzman to hear cross motions for summary judgement raising close to 10 significant issues. He gave us 3 hours of oral argument. Had read briefs, transcripts, etc and was all over it. A week later we got a 55 page order taking every issue apart. Was legally correct on every one. Case then settled. He's is insanely smart and prepared. Exactly what we want and need on Fed Ct. He will have my support.
ReplyDeleteHazman, De La O, Luck, and Ruiz would all make amazing federal judges. For selfish reasons, I hope we keep them as long as possible.
ReplyDeleteBest of the rest, John Thornton, Peter Lopez Will Thomas and Rodney Smith. None of the rest except for Hanzman are worth a bucket of spit. Or Kevin or Rick from the 3d, both would make an excellent federal judge as well, politics aside.
ReplyDeleteBarzee doesn't have achance to revive if Hillary wins?
ReplyDeleteWhy not Victoria Brennan for Federal Judge? Clearly a good temperament, etc...
ReplyDeleteThere is no one more qualified that Michael Hanzman for the job. Period. It is not even close. His work ethic and brain power are head and shoulders above anyone else in this District.
ReplyDeleteThe obstacles, however, are the fact that he is neither a minority nor a woman, and that he has a few jealous and petty enemies with a fair amount of political juice. Let’s hope that #$%@ does not stand in the way of putting him on the federal bench.
On the positive side, if Hanzman gets screwed out of the appointment, there is no way in hell he will not ultimately be placed in the complex division of the Circuit Court. That division has been a joke for at least a decade. And, every commercial litigator worth a #$%@ knows that Hanzman is the only real way to clean that mess up. Business cases of any length would get tried. More importantly, they would be correctly managed and decided.
With Hanzman at the helm of the complex division, we can turn South Florida into the next Delaware for business cases. How cool would that be?
You are all wrong. Trump wins election, Bradford Cohen gets the nod.
ReplyDeleteHanzman was in the running for a federal judgeship several years ago. Ask Steven Zack why he was never nominated.
ReplyDeleteDear Trialmaster,
ReplyDeleteA 60-something year old will not be nominated to the bench. That ship has sailed.
11:23, its a life appointment. But its also political and that's why great judges(the few we have) do not get appointed. Zack has never tried a jury trial in his life. He is a political hack and vastly overrated. He is a disgrace to the GatorNation.
ReplyDeleteHanzman is 55 and was 39 when he was nominated for the seat that went to Huck. He didn't get it because Tom Schultz, thru Connie Mack, had his friend Paul picked. Had nothing to do with Zack and if Hanzman applies he will get it hands down.
ReplyDeleteZack's got no jack and is a has been hack.
