PETITION FOR THOMAS & BENCH AND BAR MIXER TONIGHT

This Judge Thomas contretemps will not fade away. If Judge Thomas makes it on the federal bench we certainly hope that he remembers that his community- the lawyers of Miami Dade, united around his cause.

Here is a petition you can sign on line asking Senator Rubio to send Judge Thomas to the senate judiciary committee for a hearing.

The JAA Broward blog reported that longtime Dade ASA Abbe Rifkin has had her name sent to Governor Scott (R-Hates poor, uninsured people)  for a seat on the Broward County Court bench.

BENCH AND BAR MIXER TONIGHT 6PM.
Tobacco Road- which is an establishment in downtown Miami of which we are informed serves alcoholic beverages of various types and food. Personally, we are of the firm belief that alcohol and judges do not mix, lest we mutter something truthful that will hurt us in our next hearing. But fair minded people of  honest intentions and hearty spirit are hopeful that this soiree will promote good will toward men and those who wear robes, so while we will not be present, you might give it a whirl.

Don't look now but your Miami Dolphins are 3-0 heading into a Monday night showdown in the Big Easy against the 3-0  Saints.  And undefeated MNF showdown involving the Dolphins- it's been a long time since the Dolphins were in a showcase game like this with a legitimate chance to win.

See You In Court.

  1. Where these petitions a year ago. Will be hard for Rubio to flip-flop at this point.

  2. Let's hope Rubio is decent enough to do the right thing here. After all it's a trial court seat and not the appellate court for Christ's sake.

  3. I just have to laugh. I'm sure Rubio will receive the petitions and be like "oh no, those really bad ass lawyers at the justice building are going to be really mad if I don't support Thomas, oooh I'm soooo scared".

  4. Kudos to APD Robert Kalter for amazing win at FSC in Matarranz, re: cause challenge to jurors who express a personal bias subsequently "disavowed" under "skillful" "rehabilitation" by trial judge or prosecutor. Opinion begins with quote from Atticus Finch!

  8. lol @ 3:58...you and your "operatives" are a joke. Stop pretending you have inside information. You know as much as the rest of us. What do you know other than what the media has already reported? Nothing i presume.

  9. Rump- I'm in a sourhern dist ppc/ppt (point per conviction/ point per trial) judicial fantasy league. Any judge in southern district - fed or state - from keys to west palm is eligible. We have a flex spot for two county court judges and I was thinking of starting Hague and Ortiz this week. Any inside info if they have trials going?

  10. Kudos to Judge Thomas who was in such a hurry to try a sexual battery case that he seated the wrong juror. Great judicial temperament. Ironic that the verdict was rendered the night of his pep rally. And on the day the Matarranz opinion was issued.

  13. MC waste service,
You don't like the result of a case. That doesn't mean the judge is bad.
Judges have to make unpopular decisions.
Be upset with your legislators that make the laws you don't like.

  14. Mark Cooper Waste Services, what do you know about judges? You are not an attorney and have no clue about judge Thomas.

  15. MC Waste Services, why don't you provide a real "waste" service? Give $500 contributions to opponents of judges who are incompetent and arrogant wastes to help flush them out of their jobs in the next election.
