SERGEANT BOSQUE ARRESTED FOR KIDNAPPING

When we last left Opa Locka Sergeant German Bosque, (see our prior post here)  he was a law enforcement officer known more for his lengthy internal affairs rap sheet and misconduct than for his work as a peace officer.

                                              (in custody)

Today he is in jail, charged with kidnapping: From the Miami Herald:
Former Opa-locka police Sgt. German “GB” Bosque — who has been jailed four times and has a longer internal affairs rap sheet than any cop in Florida — is back behind bars.

State investigators arrested Bosque, 49, on Friday evening, charging him with kidnapping, battery and tampering with a witness who had tried to file a complaint against Bosque. He faces life in prison if convicted of the kidnapping charge, a first-degree felony.
The Herald article details a career in which Bosque has been terminated and reinstated an astounding five times! (The Random Pixel blog also noted that Bosque had been arrested three times as well, which apparently didn't cause any concern with the Hialeah Opa Locka PD) Bosque is now on termination six, which he was in the process of appealing (natch) when the need for a good criminal lawyer and bondsman interceded.

ON a completely different note, where did all this rain come from? Didn't the storm pass us Thursday night?
Stay dry.

  1. I just finished reading Stephen King's Under the Dome. Not as good as his recent book about changing time and stopping the assassination of JFK 11/22/63, but still a very compelling read. The thing about King, from a writer's standpoint is that he is as good a creator of characters that exists among modern American writers. You care about them, or hate them or fear them. From a technical writing standpoint I also re-read IT for the way King writes from a child's perspective. Not many writers could do it like he did.

In a completely different genre, Ben Mezrich has sort of created his own genre- writing about unusual and highly motivated 20-30 somethings who do something amazing. I am currently reading Straight Flush- the true story of some Montana College kids who started absolute poker. I recommend his prior books Sex On The Moon, and and Rigged. Anyway, some summer reading to consider on this rainy weekend, unless like me, you're reading transcripts.

  2. What I don't understand is that if Bosque is in on a PBL (and thus no bond) why isn't he showing up on the in-custody inmate search?

  4. My favorite entry is January 24, 2011. Jon Stewart couldn't have written a more hysterical and sadly ridiculous line into this man's career line.

  11. The only difference between Bosque and many other LEO's like him is that it all finally caught up to Bosque.

Let us see what the SAO does. If they do try Bosque, it will probably be a lame effort by the SAO. Police have a powerful union and the vote carries serious consequences.

If the powers that be were really serious about prosecuting Bosque, he would have been indicted in federal court. Everyone knows that is where you take a guy like Bosque. See 18 U.S.C. 242

Call the feds and get rid of Bosque and be done with him.

  12. Rumpole what do you think of this listen to this Judge Edith Jones who is was formerly the CJ of the Federal Appeals Court for the 5th Circuit.

She did this in an oral arguments hearing.

  13. Ironically Edith Jones is a 2001 Bush appointee. The reason why I'm posting this is because recently a congressman has called for an investigation into Judge Edith Jones for saying in a Pennsylvania University commencement speech that "Latinos and African Americans are predisposed to commit crimes".

MR. TURNER: I think the amount of drugs in that truck supports the intent to distribute. And the jury….

JUDGE DENNIS: Well, we’ve said over and over that the amount…. this court, no court has said that you can infer….

    CHIEF JUDGE JONES: Judge Dennis….

JUDGE DENNIS: … just on the basis of the amount of drugs …

    CHIEF JUDGE JONES: Judge Dennis!

JUDGE DENNIS: Can I, can I, can I ask a question?

CHIEF JUDGE JONES: You have monopolized, uh, uh, seven minutes….

JUDGE DENNIS: Well, I’m way behind on asking questions in this court. I have been quiet a lot of times, and I am involved in this case….

CHIEF JUDGE JONES slams her hand down on the table (loudly), stands halfway up out of her chair, and points toward the door.

CHIEF JUDGE JONES: Would you like to leave?

JUDGE DENNIS: Pardon? What did you say?

CHIEF JUDGE JONES: I want you to shut up long enough for me to suggest that perhaps….

JUDGE DENNIS: Don’t tell me to shut up….

CHIEF JUDGE JONES: … you should give some other judge a chance to ask a question …

JUDGE DENNIS: Listen, I have been in this courtroom many times and gotten closed out and not able to ask a question. I don’t think I’m being overbearing….

CHIEF JUDGE JONES: You’ve been asking questions for the entire seven minutes….

JUDGE DENNIS: Well, I happen to be through. I have no more questions.

CHIEF JUDGE JONES: I just want to offer any other judge an opportunity to ask a question. Some may support your position. If nobody else chooses to ask a question, then please go forward.

RANDOM FEMALE JUDGE WHO IS NOT EDITH JONES (timidly): I would like to ask a question about the necessity for a Sears instruction….

  20. By Sgt German Bosque July 16, 2012

I wanted to begin by separating myself from the City of Opa-Locka, but after almost twenty (20) years of service, I am proud to say, I am Opa-Locka.

My City of Opa-Locka is a beautiful city, with beautiful , decent citizens. Since 1993, I have personally witness my city come a long way. We have both had our share of black eyes, and struggled through some rough times, but have overcome the obstacles and continue to move forward.

We are not the richest city, yet the police officers are a priority for the city when caring for the comfort and safety of their officers, supplying individual officers with take home vehicles, bullet proof vests, Assault Rifles, laptop computers, etc.

But as of now, we’ll just focus on me since that’s who the media’s eyes are on.

For starters, as I’ve said before, I’m conceded about one thing only and it’s that I’m an honest and excellent Police Officer, yet not better than any other good Police Officer. I’ve always loved my chosen profession of Law Enforcement. I am against bad Police Officers, dirty cops, any officer that would bring any shame to the profession, etc. As a Police Officer, I’ve never stolen anything, kicked anyone’s ass, or ‘beat up’ anyone.

My personal life is mirrored by my professional one. I do not drink or smoke. I have never been involved in a Domestic Battery incident with any of my past girlfriends and two (2) ex-wife’s that are all winners inside and out. I was with one of my ex-girlfriends for approximately four (4) years and she had no intention of becoming a Police Officer until she met me and my small circle of police friends, that are all winners, she then became a Miami-Dade Police Officer.

For starters, much of my career has been tainted by the ill will investigations conducted by the Opa-Locka Police Internal Affairs Captain, who has always unfairly and wrongfully had a history of a personal vendetta towards me, as reflected in his unfair and biased investigations of me.

Also evident is the difference of the findings of his investigations and the unfounded results of the State Attorney’s Office investigations. This Captain has repeatedly presented criminal charges against me with the State Attorney’s Office, Public Corruption division, which NONE have been filed. As one of many cases, he presented a criminal charge of ‘Medical Fraud’ because I called out sick and went to Cancun, Mexico. He has blown allegations/accusations against me out of proportion, if not initiating his own bogus allegations.

Next, the media first catches wind of my existence when a reporter for the Sarasota, Florida, Herald-Tribune, wrote an article titled ‘Unfit for Duty’. According to his research, he checked with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) and discovered that I was the most

‘accused’ Officer in the State of Florida that was still presently employed as an Officer. He furthers his investigation by responding to the Opa-Locka Police Department (OLPD) to review my complete history of ‘Internal Affairs’ cases. In order to sensationalize his article, the reporter misquotes and lies by changing a word here and there to completely change the readers interpretation of the facts.

He never mentions other facts he discovered during his investigation. That I have succeeded all obstacles against me as a white Hispanic Police Officer that loves serving my community of a predominantly black city, that I am the most Commended Police Officer in Opa-Locka, receiving the most written commendations. That I’ve had hundreds of good arrests per year and to receive an average of three (3) complaints (mostly unsustained) per year is below the average for a high performance officer.

  21. Fact: The media prefers for the audience to believe that as a Police Officer I was accused of this when in fact I was in the Police Academy and twenty (20) hours prior to graduating, another cadet and myself were arrested for Grand Theft Auto, Impersonating a Police Officer and Possession of a Firearm in Commission of a Felony.

In this case, we were arrested because of the arresting police officers ‘creative writing’. The arresting officer stated that we flashed a fake badge and identified ourselves as Police Officers to him, while wearing gun belts and Police raid T-shirts when in fact we never flashed a badge, and we told him we were cadets in the Police Academy. We were not wearing our gun belts and yes we were wearing the Police raid T-shirts, but covered by jean jackets the officer ‘Lost’ and never impounded. He even went as far as damaging the ignition lock, giving the appearance that the vehicle was stolen. Yet, thanks to other honest police officers on the scene that testified that we never identified ourselves as Police Officers, we never flashed a badge, we were not wearing our gun belts, we were wearing jean jackets and the ignition lock was not damaged when the vehicle was towed on the scene, we were both acquitted by a jury of any wrongdoing.

..Missing Evidence”..Hiding Drugs in his Police Car”..Transporting Narcotics in his Police Vehicle”

Since I began in March of 1993, I’m the only officer that the department has conducted complete searches of my police vehicle, and twice, not just once. In this search they discovered a ‘Safety Container’ inside the trunk, containing used needles and broken used glass crack pipes. They called it “Missing Evidence” when it was not apart of any case or arrest. They also lap tested the residue, testing positive for Cocaine, and this is the “Missing Evidence”, “Hiding drugs in my police car”, “Transporting Narcotics in my Police Car”. These searches also included illegally searching my personal belongings, briefcase, clipboard and the Captain illegally confiscating, my personal camera’s memory SD card, my personal computer jump drives, etc.

..Cracking the head of handcuffed subject”

I arrested this subject for forcing a sixteen (16) yr old mentally handicap girl, to have sex with his friends and himself, in his living room. While handcuffed behind his back at the police station, he head butted me, cracking my forehead open, not his, bloodying my face and the floors with my blood. But the media wants the audience to believe it was his head cracked open and his blood.

    ..Beating a juvenile”

The juvenile never said I beat him, he complained that I slapped him two (2) or three (3) times. I have never beat anyone as I’ve never injured anyone.

..Fondling a Correctional Officer in his locked Police car”

I had just recently met her, we spoke several times on the phone, she invited me to visit her at Claude Pepper park, where she was exercising, walking around the block. I met her there on my day off, in my personal vehicle, (not in my Police car as stated to sensationalize the story) in my personal clothes. Yes I touched her but

..Bosque’s girlfriend reports that he slapped her while seating in his personal vehicle”

Bosque’s girlfriend? Again, the media sensationalizing the story. She was only a female friend from the neighborhood that I was giving her a ride to work. We never dated.

..a 16 yr old boy playing basketball alleges I slapped him twice in the head”

Playing basketball? Again the media adding to sensationalize the story. Fact is, I responded to a burglary in progress at Nathan B. Young elementary school. Upon arrival, I observed the juvenile exiting from a second floor window and fled running from me. After apprehending him, he excessively mouthed off profanities at me. After he was released from Juvenile Detention, he responded to the station with his mother and filed a complaint that I slapped him twice in the head after mouthing off profanities to me.

  22. 2:26, you should have read UAM's excerpt before reflexively swatting at him/her. Jones' quoted remarks are shocking, and relevant in light of recent revelations about her. I am grateful UAM provided the text because pasted links don't work on this site.

I'm not a long-time comments reader, so I may lack context for the UAM bashing that goes on here. I've seen many derisive remarks about UAM's spelling or grammar, yet these are scarcely strong suits of the site's other commenters. My guess is that most of the site's other commenters are not AMs.

Just last week, Fake Kenny posted a restaurant review that, as noted in a subsequent comment, was taken verbatim and without attribution from the NYT. No one suggested that Fake Kenny would make a good court reporter.
