ELECTION DAY 2012!

We wish we would have gotten this up sooner. Like yesterday.
Dear Rumpole- This is my first time posting on the blog (but admittedly not my first time reading). i am writing today for two reasons. First I want to thank from the bottom of my heart all of those folks who have already braved the long lines to vote for me. Second I ask those who have not yet voted to please vote for me (#81 on the ballot) if you think I have been prepared, punctual, honest, respectful, and fair over the last two years. I truly love serving our community as a judge, and I would be honored to continue serving for the next six years. Thank you, Andrea Wolfson

Query: We have the best blog in Miami. Why is it such an "admission" to have read it? Almost 3,000 people a day read this humble blog. Nothing to be ashamed of.

FIRST ELECTION UPDATE! The first results are in. The town of Dixville Notch in New Hampshire reported its results shortly after midnight: Obama-5; Romney-5. A tie has never happened in Dixville Notch. Omen for the rest of the night?

We'll live blog and tweet the election tonight. If you haven't already done so, follow us @justicebuilding.
,
PICK THE WINNER AND THE TIME.  Enter a comment with your name and pick who will win the presidential election tonight and the time CBS news declares him the winner.  Closest to the actual time wins a valuable blog prize.
Our Pick: Obama at 11:35. We'll explain why later.

Here's a quick primer as to why Ohio might be the  tipping point state: Obama 237; Romney 206: When is comes down to the key battle ground states, this is where the candidates will be at.

Nevada (6 EV) goes to Obama (243). Wisconsin (10 EV) goes to Obama (253). Iowa (6 EV) goes to Obama (259).

The remaining battle ground states are Colorado (9 EV) Florida (29 EV), New Hampshire (4), Virginia (13 EV), and Ohio (18).

Give Romney Florida, Colorado, Virginia and New Hampshire and he is at 261.

It all comes down to Ohio. Unless Obama wins Colorado and Virginia which we think he will. As the media has repeatedly said, Obama's road to an electoral college win is wider than Romney's. One thing to watch: If Romney is competitive in Pennsylvania (20 EV)  as the last poll said he was, then all of the sudden it's a new ball game as Florida, Pennsylvania and any two of Colorado, Virginia or Ohio gives him the win. (New Hampshire and any other state except Colorado also gives Romney the win.). So watch the Keystone state as well. If Romney is competitive it will be a long night for the democrats.

Now go check out our update on yesterday's post and see why Ohio might not make a final election report until November 16, 2012.

Have a good day in court.  See you tonight.

  2. My Learned Friend,
As a citizen of the old country, I must advise that the following sentence is a disaster:
"When is comes down to the key battle ground states, this is where the candidates will be at."
Any distinguishe author could accidentally type "is" instead of "it," but ending the sentence with "be at?" Ouch.

  3. Waiting in line. They say about an hour. I think making voting more cumbersome for what is already an apathetic public is a great idea! Go rick scott! Having a monarchy or dictatorship is so much less of a hassel. Cant wait to see how many "random" check points for warrants at polls in black neighborhoods.

  4. Interesting to find out that the $100 million that Sheldon Adelson has funneled to Mitt Romney and the Republican Party from his brothels and casinos in Macau was actually derived from corrupt Chinese Communist officials (are there any other kind?). We already know what this makes Adelson but what does this say about the holier-than-thou GOP? I guess international money laundering or anything else is OK as long as the ultimate goal is to protect Israel.

  5. 8:00. That sentence bothered me all morning. You are correct. I needed to make an early appointment and was running out the door as my driver was waiting. But that is no excuse. Your criticism is spot on.

  10. Enough about the lines already.

  11. Obama takes this one fairly easy with 300+ EV and its called by 11:00 pm if Obama takes Florida or Virginia.

In short, nobody trusts Romney and he doesn't take any state that any other run of the mill Republican would have taken.

  15. THE CAPTAIN REPORTS:

    ELECTION CENTRAL .....

One thing that is for sure in this election, is that it is looking more and more like 2000 all over again. Meaning, the lawyers are getting involved in precinct issues throughout the country and this election is get dragged into the courts and we could once again be left with uncertainty for days or weeks.

    Cap Out ....

  16. Wolfson...good judge, deserves the job.....EXCEPT she sought and obtained the endorsement of the CFC, Christian Family Coalition/Council, a gay bashing, anti abortion cabal of right wing In order to do so, she had to reject SAVE Dade.

Since you read the blog, Judge, I would like to hear your reply. A lot of us would.

My money is on you not replying, and if you do, it will be after 7 pm.

  17. Romney loses Florida at around 10:30. At 11:01 he calls the shumie on his campaign and retires to one of his eleven vacation homes.

  18. Rump,

please don't tell me you wasted your time creating this nonsensical Romney headquarters ad.

  19. I didn't vote for Wolfson. I voted for Greer Wallace because of what Light of Truth said. I never vote for anyone the Christian Family Coalition/Council endorses.

  20. THE CAPTAIN REPORTS:

A VOTE FOR OBAMA IS ACTUALLY A VOTE FOR ROMNEY .....

You can't make this stuff up folks. In central Pennsylvania, a voter trying to cast a ballot for Obama in Millerstown saw the machine switch his vote to Romney. The voter notified Perry County elections officials and posted video of it to YouTube, where it went viral.

Ron Ruman, a spokesman for the Pennsylvania Department of State, said a "voter who had a problem tried to cast his ballot" and the machine switched the vote from Obama to Romney.
