"WE'RE NO DEWEY..."

ATL covers Greenberg Trauig which has recently taken on the mantle of being an "embattled big firm. What with the sanctions imposed in the Coquina Bank case, and a much discussed shareholders capital call, tough questions about the firm moved CEO Richard Rosenbaum to bluet out "Look, we're not like Dewey" in reference to the recent bankruptcy of Dewey Ballantine.

Deny something enough...and maybe there's some truth to it.
Just a thought.

Boy does the JAA blog hate Judge Diaz in Broward County. It's nonstop anti-Diaz all the time. Judge Diaz is in a run-off election this November.

The thing that bothers us so much about Representative Akin's
(R-moron) comments about rape is that we just feel it in our bones that dozens of other right wing-religious candidates/elected politicians feel the same way but are just too smart to say it.  Akin rode a tea party inspired campaign to an upset win in Republican nomination for senator in Missouri. Next up for Akin: "why baseball is a communist/atheist conspiracy to destroy America.

Isaac is coming.  Please go away Isaac. We have work to do. On the other hand, the Republicans are coming to Tampa, and you will be arriving at the same time....and nothing would be better karma than a big global-warming created storm knocking out their little pity party  when they deny global warming even exists.... hmmm...

Don't mess with mother nature.

See you in court.

  1. THE CAPTAIN REPORTS:

AKIN NOT A TEA PARTY CANDIDATE .....

Rump, one snall correction to your post today. Rep. Akin, who ran in the Repub primary for Senate against state treasurer Sarah Steelman was not supported by the Tea Party. The Tea Party supported Ms. Steelman.

    See the quote below:

"In a radio interview Monday, Akin apologized for the comments.

"I made that statement in error. Let me be clear. Rape is never legitimate. It's an evil act, and it's committed by violent predators," the Republican congressman said on Mike Huckabee's radio show.

The Tea Party Express endorsed Akin's rival, former state treasurer Sarah Steelman, in Missouri's GOP primary. Steelman, who was defeated by Akin in the August 7 contest, also grabbed the coveted conservative endorsement of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

Notwithstanding calls for the congressman to drop out, Akin is set to go up against incumbent Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill in November's election."

  2. I wrote "tea party inspired" not "tea party candidate" . I make my living with words and I use them with surgical precision.

  3. Query re tea party and hopefully some tea partiers can help me out: If the basic tenet of the tea party is small government, why isn't the tea party pro-choice, i.e. government out of my medical and family planning decisions, pro-gay marriage, government out of my decision of whom I want to spend my life with, and against efforts to prevent Mosques and muslim communities from being established, government out of religious decisions and freedom of assembly? I know an awfully constructed sentence, but I was hoping someone could enlighten me on these subjects.

  4. Sitting here in the Miami Beach Cinematheque waiting for acclaimed foreign film Ai Weiwei to begin. I only watch foreign cinema...and the Expendables 2. Then some sushi at a restaurant you've never heard of and will never be able to afford.

  6. The tea party was not founded on the basis of social issues. The tea party was founded on three principles: individual responsibility, adherance to the constitution, and limited government.

Candidates that may be backed by the tea party have their own opinions about abortion. I disagree completely with Akin's comments and found them disgusting. He should drop out of the race.

But being a tea party endorsed candidate doesn't mean that all of the views expressed by the candidate are views of the tea party. Chances are, if the candidate is for individual responsibility, constitutional adherance, and limited government, the tea party will support him or her.

There are plenty of pro-choice tea partiers, as there are plenty of pro-life tea partiers.

  7. We really desparately need a blog that pays attention to issues that face us day-to-day in the courtroom instead of the blithering left wing crap that pours forth from the recycled 60's hippies that populate the page. Akin is a screwball. He is not a Tea Party screwball anymore than Rev. Wright is the spokesman for the president's true feelinsg. Can't you just control your Dr. Strangelove-patterned liberal bullshit?

  8. You want something on the blog? Get off your ass and contribute. You know how hard it is to do this? I have to constantly scout out issues in the REGJB and then make sure that I am not only one of two or three people seeing it so that when I write about it I am not revealed. I generally write six posts a week, which is over 300 a year. Every single one can't be amazing and entertaining, although I realize most are.

Every fucking one of them. At the same time.

  12. Akin should have used "bona fide" instead of "legitimate". It's a more appropriate word to express what he was trying to say.

  13. Gee, Rump, did you miss the news that DEMOCRATS put $1.5 million into ads promoting Akin because they believed he was the weakest candidate and they wanted McCaskill to run against him?

ALL the Republicans want this clown out. The only politician to publically call for him to stay in the race? Claire McCaskill.

  14. Rump, did you hear? In addition to not being able to get pregnant from legitimate rape, according to the GOP, you can't get pregnant from incest or statutory rape either! And if by some miracle, your body does allow it to happen, it is a blessing!!! I wonder if you are safe from STDs too? Maybe we should decriminalize sexual offenses as the womenfolk appear to suffer no consequences from them.
