The University of Florida and University of Miami Law Schools had their graduations Saturday. A bevy of new lawyers will be taking the bar in July and some of them will be lucky enough to stumble into the REGJB for their training as Assistant Public Defenders or Assistant State Attorneys. Good for them.
We feel it is every experienced lawyer's obligation to mentor a young lawyer. Give it a try. You might surprise yourself and find it a rewarding experience.
THE HAMMER
The other note worthy event was Saturday night's FACDL dine and doo-wop extravaganza at the Biltmore. The yearly get together of the elite of Miami's Criminal Defense Bar featured the instillation of
Jude "The Hammer" Faccidomo as the President of the Miami Chapter of FACDL (Motto "It's all about the dues").
The highlight of the evening was when Sacha Baron Cohen crashed the event dressed as former Judge Peter Adrian and attempted to incarcerate everyone.
Until you've seen your favourite judge and PD doing the conga, well, you haven't really...
HANG ON...WAIT A MOMENT.
David Ovalle from the Herald reports here that Clerks offices throughout the State are about to lose 31 million dollars in over due funding which means.....more waiting.
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY.
Don't forget to call your mom...even she wears robes during working hours.
The Captain Reports:
ReplyDeleteFACDL SOIREE .....
Highlight of the night had to be Judge Diane Ward's (that's her in the photo with Jude) story about Faccidomo's Motion For A Live Penus Lineup in one of the cases he had before Judge Ward when Jude was an APD.
Lots of Judicial candidates and even her honor KFR were in the house. Many were handing out there vote for me cards. Of course, with the banquet ending, that signals the official start of the summer campaign season. Election is Tuesday, August 14th, which is a mere three months away.
Cap Out .....
Cap Out .....
Alex Jimenez-Lobara had to be the most annoying judicial candidate at last nights banquet. He must have asked me for his vote 5x. At one point, I told him I have spoken to you numerous times tonight. I know you are running for judge and who your wife is. That is one guy who lost my vote.
ReplyDeleteJudge Andrea Wolfson was there also. She was elegant and beautiful. She had a grace to her. This woman must be retained.
Betty Llorente is truly FACDL's Iron Lady. Great job to probably the best president that organization has ever had.
Yes, KFR was there. Noticeably absent, Rod Vereen. Betty Butchko was there as well. Doesn't she know we hate her?
Rod was there. Early on he was spotted outside talking with KFR and he bf that can't pass the bar.
DeleteWhat a bunch of self congratulating blow hards. "Oh look at us...Liberty's Last Champion" pulleeheese.
ReplyDeleteI don't see attorneys being paid 15K in fives and tens from some neighborhood drug dealer as Liberty's Last Champion. More like reasonable doubt for purchase with drug proceeds.
And lets not forget about the last champions who send out thousands of mailers a week for business and then pawn the clients off on cheap per diem lawyers who plead the client out at the first opportunity. Yeah, our profession has lots to be proud of.
You all make me sicker than the swill served at these parodies.
God the chicken was awful.
ReplyDeleteI was personally invited to the FACDL Dinner by Jude himself. We had Shirley Temples before. He told me he respects the POTUS so we were cool. I got a great seat at the event becuase I am realted to an investigator for KFR.
ReplyDeleteI realized I wrote checks I couldn't cash and now will post "anonymously" since I ruined my legal career before it ever got going in Miami.
Uhho...I sense a lot of comments in response to AG.
ReplyDeleteAG might not have been too far from the truth.
ReplyDeleteMon Capeeetaaan, from your comments I think you believe AG might be right.
Sad to post that Scott Jay, Esquire, past away on Thursday, May 10, 2012. Scott was the former President of the Miami Beach Bar Association, a terrific person and a brilliant attorney.
ReplyDeleteI truly, truly, truly hate to say this but I agree with Angry Gurl.
ReplyDeleteEvent was good.
ReplyDeleteSorry. Can't agree with AG on this one.
ReplyDeleteFirst, if she is one of those people that think those that do commit crimes don't deserve to have someone defend their rights, then she has no business ever practicing criminal law.
Second, I don't take drug money. Unfortunately I have to take money from the hard working parents who get second and third jobs to pay the fees, to help their kids.
But if I could take drug money I would. I have no moral opposition to it. And I notice that the government doesn't either.
the elite of the state hack bar
ReplyDeleteThat's installation and not instillation.
ReplyDeleteHey anonymous sunday, 2:58 p.m.: It's "passed" away, not "past." I hope you aren't a member of the Florida Bar.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, I'm like the white man I don't fear or run from nobody. Since your in the business of criticism, you misspelled related jerk. I guess you'll try and say, "oh no I was imitating your typo's." Yeah whatever, btw Mr. Hypocrite your party's homophobic rhetoric is typical of your kind. Gay Edgar Hoover's name is plastered on a Federal Building, and he's buried next to his live in partner, and would never acknowledge La Cosa Nostra, during Senate hearings, the Castellamare War, and all through prohibition. What a Disgrace to name a Federal Building after him. The nerve of you to think I would cower and hide, For what, exercising my first Amendment, right. I wouldn't be American, if I didn't speak my mind. I'm pretty sure you assumed I was like your others black associates, the "Clarence Uncle Thomas" type. Well you guessed wrong buddy, I don't kiss ass, approach me in a disrespectful manner you get the reciprocal. It's the Golden Rule, "It's the American Way."
ReplyDeleteR.I.P. to the 4th Amendment, and may God be with all those who are stopped and searched w/o PC and in violation to the 4th Amendment. Rump, there are 16 exceptions to the 4th Amendment: consent searches, inevitable discovery, the plain view doctrine, the border search exception, exigent circumstances, the faith exception, the community care taker exception, the open fields doctrine, sobriety check points, immigration check points, driver's license and registration checkpoints, searches incident to arrest, consensual encounters, inventory searches, and mail and shipping packages search stop & frisk. George Mason,Edmund,Randolph, and Elbridge Gerry are rolling in their graves.
A.M. (Unapologetic American)
Folks, we are not here to rip people for the occasional misspelled word.
ReplyDeleteIf it is a repeated, aggregious course of conduct, then yes, it deserves being brought to light. American Minority is in a class all by himself here. He is nearly unreadable.
It's not entirely his fault though. His keyboard is low budget. No apostrophe, no comma, no semi colon. Which is fine because he has no idea how to use them.
T50
Judge up for election and judicial candidates should be prohibited from campaigning at the annual FACDL circle jerk.
ReplyDeleteAlso, FACDL should show some balls and not invite state henchmen like Butchko, Scola, Miller. Send a message that they're not welcome.
On a more sophisticated note;who's been covering the fierce battle over in the REGJB? Day one of opening arguments and it's already a tooth and nail battle, and that's the way it should be.
ReplyDeleteSo far so good, that is diligent representation.Doesn't really look like the state has any substantial case thus far. In my opinion, the first strike is the rookie Detect, with the ambiguous report in regards to the clothing description discrepancy, combined with the fact that the defendant's twin was present during the time time in question, and possibly exculpatory direct evidence, was thrown away by the detective. So far 0 for 2,two swings and two misses.
