Lets give a warm REGJB "welcome back" to County Court Judge Pando who returns after a long absence during which she did her time in Hialeah (which most people do not know is a word native to Miccosukee Indians which means "land of many street names").
Judge Pando is currently embroiled in a controversy in which some convicted felon in Broward of all places was recorded burning up the jail phone lines asking his wife to ask someone to ask someone to ask Judge Pando to write a letter to the sentencing Judge. And, the Herald breathlessly reported- Judge Pando did not do it. WOW. Some scandal. You mean to tell us that in all of Miami this is the worst dirt the Herald can dig up?
Judge Pando has a "difficult" reputation for not starting calendars anywhere near the time they are set. We shall be closely watching to see if that habit continues in the REGJB.
JAA Broward Blog: We have no idea why they haven't posted anything new since last Thanksgiving, or at least it seems that long.
If you wrote a comment for the last post that was about diet soda or other Judges or was not respectful to the late Judge Lando, we did not publish it.
The Faber Effect: Is this: a popular Judge enters the last portion of an election cycle with an emerging scandal. The Judge gets opposition. The Judge loses an election that just months before seemed to be in the bag. Will the Faber effect affect Judge Pando? We shall see. FYI- Well before there was a Judge Faber or Judge Pando there was a Judge Mastos and he was trounced at the polls. The Judge that won in turn resigned in the face of a scandal. For extra blog credit, name that Judge.
See You In Court.
Huh? Where have you been? The little matter of a Judge asking the Division of Corporations to Re-Incorporate a business on her official letterhead escape you? Did the teeny weeny bit about that that corporation consistently practices before her? How about that the same corporation donated the maximum to her campaign? It doesn't bother you that not only does it seem improper, but unethical?
ReplyDeleteBy the way, she's staying in Hialeah.
ReplyDeleteHenry Ferro, who pointed a gun at a juvenile accused of Armed Robbery.
ReplyDeleteWho did Faber run against?

ReplyDeleteTHE CAPTAIN REPORTS:
ReplyDeleteLOTS OF MATERIAL ... HERE IS JUST A TIDBIT .....
1. Judge Pando is not returning to the GJB as I understand it. She has simply switched positions with Judge Jacqueline Schwartz. Judge Joel Brown was faced with several hundred Motions To Recuse as a result of Judge Pando's decision to represent a litigant that was appearing before her. Rather than assigning those cases to another Judge, Brown, instead, simply assigned the entire Civil Division in Hialeah to Judge Schwartz. Judge Pando takes Judge Schwartz' Criminal Division in Hialeah.
2. Congratulations to Judge Richard Hersch. THE HONORABLE RICHARD HERSCH is hereby assigned to the Juvenile Division, Delinquency Section of the Circuit Court, located at the Juvenile Justice Center.
3. HORACE, The Faber Effect has already been reported by "yours truly". I posted quietly at 11:00 AM today the following:
THE CAPTAIN REPORTS:
BREAKING NEWS ON THE ELECTION FRONT .....
ANA MARIA PANDO HAS AN OPPONENT
Attorney Diana Elizabeth Gonzalez has filed to run against Pando. Gonzalez has been a member of the Bar for seven years. Also, Pando has been re-assigned from County Civil to County Criminal.
More news to follow in a later post.
Cap Out .....

Time to watch the HEAT game. More later.
Captain Out .....
Judge Henry Ferro ... Rump, give us a toughie! Ted Mestos is such a wonderful, cool person. I have watched him pick juries and he is a master. Judge Ferro moved to Ocala and later ran for Attorney General on the Republican ticket....
ReplyDeleteI believe the answer is former Judge Henry Ferro, who as I recall, did not wear the robe for very long.
ReplyDeleteHenry Ferro beat mastos
ReplyDeletehenry ferro, put a gun to the head of defendant in court, asking "how do you like it"?
ReplyDeleteTed got fucked for a perceived association w/ The Mouse , who got caught up in stupid BS a Judge should avoid. All Ted did was what emergency Judges do all the time. Answer a late night call and make a ruling. But , it looked like a favor for The Mouse so he got trashed in the Herald.
ReplyDeleteBetter trivia who beat Ted in 1978? Hint #1: his slogan was' A Mensch for the Beach;; Hint #2: He was an Asshole.

Tally Ho
ReplyDeleteWe have no budget yet but the lawmakers in Tallahassee have been busy.
1.Anti-Sharia’ bill banning foreign law passes House over protests .A bill that would ban courts or other legal authorities from using religious or foreign law as a part of a legal decision or contract was okayed by the House. Its going nowhere in the Senate.
2.Anti-abortion measure passes House, prospects in Senate uncertain.Womn seeking an abortion would first have to wait 24 hours and new clinics would be physician-owned as part of a sweeping anti-abortion measure passed by the House on Thursday
3. After winning the overwhelming approval of the Florida House on Thursday, a bill that would allow student-led prayer in public schools seems all but certain to become law.
4. GOOD NEWS: Look at your recent Florida Bar News, page 25 or 27 for a proposed Jury instruction on Eye Witness ID. Maybe we should start asking for that instruction now as a Defense instruction?
The Barrister
I don't think the Faber effect applies here. Judge Pando is far more well connected and politically savvy than Mastos or Hernandez were. She will handily crucify and serve up on a platter her ill advised opposition. Pando is a master campaigner. As for the matter before the JQC, I predict she will be reprimanded.
ReplyDeleteRumpy, the Heat are on a 9 game winning streak with the best record in the East. Lebron is on fire. Wade is unstoppable. You still say no championship? I say they will bring the ring to South Beach come June!!!
ReplyDelete12:11 - Thank you Judge Pando, however, your wishful thinking that you will only be reprimanded, is just that, wishful thinking.
ReplyDeleteYou have already been reprimanded. The best for which you can hope is a suspension. But, my considered and educated opinion is you will be removed.
If you were a popular, and an otherwise well respected, judge, maybe you could survive, however, such is not the case.
Your educated opinion led you to wrongly assume that Judge Pando wrote the comment. So much for your opinion. Is your "considered" opinion about the ultimate outcome based on case law analysis or some other method from which you reached your learned conclusion? Bookmark these comments so we can compare notes later.
DeleteSharia has no place in the West. Sharia destroys democracy and freedom. Sharia is not compatible, even in small amount.
ReplyDeleteShumie time. kenny Time, whatever. Its time for me to get the hell out of the office and go grab a law student honey at a happy hour and enjoy my weekend. I got five k in cash in my pocket and odds are I can enjoy the hell out of it and her as soon a I find her.
ReplyDeleteI'm almost positive Faber ran against Ivan Hernandez
ReplyDeleteFaber ran against Ivan Hernandez
ReplyDeleteMastos took the 5th. Thats why he lost.
ReplyDelete12:11 and 3:30 sound suspiciously like someone with the initials H.L.
ReplyDeleteHarvey Baxter was the one who originally beat Ted. Ted is a good guy and was unfairly tainted because of the accusations against Judge Gross and his close relationship with him.
ReplyDeleteyes let's give a warm welcome back to judge pando - a stupid, chronically late, lazy, crooked judge. she fits right in at the criminal justice building.
ReplyDeleteI was a hot female law student and wouldn't touch a lawyer or a fellow law student with a ten foot pole. My gorgeous husband is in an exciting creative field and makes more money than any of you REGJB douches do. I pity the poor girls who fall for your shit.
ReplyDeleteHARVEY BAXTER!!!!! The guy who would fine you if you chewed gum in court. He was a hoot!!
ReplyDeleteRump how can you defend judge Pando. the story the herald reported about her involvement with writing letters and taking campaign cash from the hialeah health care fraud complex is what is truly disturbing not that shit about godinez
ReplyDeleteCould we say, "Jews have no place in the West. Jews destroy democracy and freedom. Jews are not compatible, even in small amounts." We have. The Klu Kluxers are alive and fighting the fight against Sharia.
ReplyDeleteA good Christian would love his brother.
Rump, indulged in a little e-llegal activity and took a few weeks off from running. Today I went for a quick 3 mile run and developed a gigantic blister. Should I take more time off to let it heal or just hit the pavement again tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteIf the blister is gigantic then let it heal. Don't open the skin because that can cause an infection. If the blister is smaller, I would clean it with gold bond medicated wipes and tape it. Try an exercise bike or spin class for a few days. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteA seat that is ripe for the taking is Robin Faber's seat. He is a bad judge and has built nothing in 6 years. The man cannot finish a calendar in time.
ReplyDeleteJudge Pando, if I were you I would file to run in Faber's Group. Then you retain Senior Judge status anyway in case you lost and face the haters who are aiming to destroy you. You can take Faber with your eyes closed. You can get great support from Judge Hernandez and Juan. They would be happy to serve a cold thank you to Faber on his deception campaign.
Word is, anyone who runs against Robin Faber will be blessed with FREE help of a fixated nature. Judge Pando, this is a good idea. The truth is clear. They are gunning at you and it is easier to beat a sorry opponent, but to plan ahead. Historically, it has been proven Robin Faber was/is an opportunist by creating lots of smoke and mirrors to defeat a good Judge in Ivan Hernandez who ran a timely calendar, tried cases, pushed 200+ cases daily and respected lawyers and their time. The misuse of The Miami Herald shows this and six years later we wonder about the unethical nature of Robin Faber. With Obama losing ground, Robin Faber is a great target.
We will support Pando and anyone willing to oust Robin Hood Faber from the judiciary. Allow this Public Offender to return to playing lawyer.
Thank goodness Pando has lost in her bid to continue the corruption. Now at least I'll be able to make other appointments on time. As for Faber, Teretha Thomas (who fired her bailiff of over 10 years for showing compassion to a litigant - I'm not kidding...) and the other crew of unfair, unethical judges....in time, hopefully they will be gone.
ReplyDeleteThis isn't racist, but merely an observation. Does Tanya Brinkley look nothing like a black woman in her campaign add photos or is it me?
ReplyDeleteI've done a google image search for her and she looks obviously black except in her campaign photo!
