ERRATUM

We erroneously reported that Judge Pando was being 1) transferred to criminal AND 2) coming to the REGJB.

Judge Pando has been transferred to the criminal division of......Hialeah!  She will not be returning MacArthur like to the REGJB.  We regret the error.

You can take the Hialeah out of the Judge, but you can't take the Judge out of Hialeah.

SUPER TUESDAY:
As of 7:11 pm upper Tuesday night, Newt has won Georgia, Romney leads in Vermont.
7:20- Romney beats Paul in Virginia- they were the only two guys on the ballot.

Good evening Horace. You must not have read our March 1, 2012 post re your post on Pando:

    THE CAPTAIN REPORTS:

LOTS OF MATERIAL ... HERE IS JUST A TIDBIT .....

    1. Judge Pando is not returning to the GJB as I understand it. She has simply switched positions with Judge Jacqueline Schwartz. Judge Joel Brown was faced with several hundred Motions To Recuse as a result of Judge Pando's decision to represent a litigant that was appearing before her. Rather than assigning those cases to another Judge, Brown, instead, simply assigned the entire Civil Division in Hialeah to Judge Schwartz. Judge Pando takes Judge Schwartz' Criminal Division in Hialeah.

    2. Congratulations to Judge Richard Hersch. THE HONORABLE RICHARD HERSCH is hereby assigned to the Juvenile Division, Delinquency Section of the Circuit Court, located at the Juvenile Justice Center.

    BREAKING NEWS - 3RD DCA - JUDGE RAMIREZ -

    As reported by the DBR:

Judge Ramirez is resigning from the 3rd DCA and will take a position at a national mediation company:

"I got a very nice offer from JAMS," short for Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Services.

Founded in 1979, JAMS bills itself as the world's largest alternative dispute resolution service. It has 280 full-time "neutrals," primarily retired judges and attorneys, and 195 employees. The Irvine, California-based firm handles about 10,000 cases a year at its various locations. Last year it formed JAMS International to handle cross-border disputes.

JAMS announced last month that it would be opening a Miami office this spring. The branch will be on the 26th floor at 600 Brickell Ave. Its offices will include 10 conference rooms.

Born in Havana, Ramirez began his judicial career in 1988 as a county court judge. From there he moved to circuit court in 1990. He has been a district court judge "for the millennium," he joked, having begun Jan. 2, 2000.

    Cap Out .....

  4. Then why was Pando sitting with Slom in MJB last week on the bench with no robe?

    What's up with that?

  5. Has anyone really ever enjoyed working with Judge Juan Rammirez?

  6. Nice lunch and learn today

  7. So happy Ramirez is leaving the Third. He is always disrespectful towards attorneys (as almost all of the judges are) and you can hardly understand when he speaks. It is a happy day for appellate attorneys!

  8. Actually I think it was rather a harsh call on firing the Officer, two days short of retirement for a relatively minor violation. Reprimand, pay dock or a very short suspension would have been sufficient. I mean much more severe misconduct in other cases have yeilded way less penalty if any. Who made that call and why and where's the F.O.P on that one...

  10. A wise decision by Judge Brown, another great gator judge. In fact, he use to preside in Hialeah when he was a county court judge many moons ago.
