DO NOT PASS GO- PROCEED TO THE STREET CORNER- THAT'S AN ORDER!

The Barrister notifies us of the Herald story on Homeless Sex Offenders:

Homeless Sex Offender camp returns, Not under Bridge but on NE 79 Street by thr RR tracks.

The Herald Story :
Miami sex-crime offenders camp on slab of sidewalk in Shorecrest.

Two years after dozens of sex offenders who’d lived under the Julia Tuttle Causeway were moved into apartments, offenders recently released from prison sleep on a Miami street. ..

State probation officials are aware of the sidewalk camp — in fact, the men there say their probation officers directed them to the corner after leaving prison.

Rumpole's stand in says: This is what we have come to: probation officers are directing released inmates to a STREET CORNER! What a great great legal system we have here in Florida. And aren't you just left in awe and wonder at the way our legislators and governor jump in right away to fix a problem like this?

  1. you know the probation office is telling these folks where to go to be outside the zone of no kids/no schools. and frankly, the probation officers are probably well meaning/intentioned in doing so.

a sad cluster fuck, this one.

  2. They are too busy passing more unconstitutional laws demanding urine testing from state employees and welfare receipients.

    Cap Out .....

  3. I thought the drug testing of state employees was unconstitutional. Hasn't a federal district court already decided this? Isn't the ACLU challenging Scott's administrative order? Better get my party on before it goes into effect.

  5. Can I get "the Barrister of B.S." to just come to my house and read the Miami Herald to me in the morning?

What insights do I get from your new scribe?

  6. Let me get this straight- Rumpole all but admits he's on an expedition to Everest, he has a damn intern clearing comments, some "stand-in" writing posts with weird code in tiny print at the bottom and nobody writes anything about it? Or is nothing getting through the intern? Inquiring minds want to know.

  7. I am a state employee and take klonopin, among other things, for a psychiatric illness which does not effect my work but which I do not wish my employer to know about. Now I have to submit to a drug test which will reveal that I take this medication? When will the assault on state employees end???

  9. One Hundred Fifty Years ago yesterday , March 13, 1862, Jefferson Davis appointed Rober E. Lee as Commander of all Confederate Army operations.

Saturday, the Gettysburg National Military Park visitors' center bookstore pulled off the shelves as inproper -- Bobblehead dolls of the man who assassinated President Abraham Lincoln .

The dolls of John Wilkes Booth with a handgun were removed. The Booth dolls, which are about 7 inches tall and come in boxes that look like the inside of the theater where Lincoln was killed, sell online for about $20 each.

"On rare occasions, there's an item that might cause concern, and obviously the bobbleheads appeared to be doing that," Gettysburg Foundation spokeswoman Dr. Anne Neil said Tuesday

  10. Did you know that our own Abbe Rifkin has applied to be a Broward judge? She'd be a good choice.

  12. I think Abbe would be petty and vindictive, much like she is as she is in trial. Very difficult to deal with, then if you happy to win she trashes you behind your back. Not a very nice person.

  14. The Captain Reports:

    Broward Judge JNC .....

This is not the first time that Ms. Rifkin has applied for Judge in Broward. She applied last year when Raag Singaal got the call from the Governor.

  15. If they cross the street corner will they be violated? What if they go into a store if nature calls and aren't at said corner when the PO does a "home vist". Will that constitute absconding.

  16. Ha ha. and then when they FTA on at the PVH the clerk will say there's proof of good service in the file. And the Warrant will be issued. The business of law enforcement.
