We can't even tell you the thousands of hours his sax playing has inspired us and seen us through good times and bad.
This song and video "A Friend of Mine" which Clarence did with Jackson Browne has always been a favourite of ours.
Somewhere tonight up in the heavens, The Big Man is being introduced like this:
Never again are we going to sit in a stadium enthralled as the Big Man belts out the sax solo on BTR or Rosalita or Jungleland... but thanks Clarence for a lifetime of memories.
"Well the change was made uptown and the Big Man joined the band...from the coastline to the City all the little pretties waived their hands...I'm gonna sit back here and laugh, while the scooter and the Big Man bust the City in half..."
Tenth Avenue Freeze Out.
I feel so crappy now. The Sun Ain't gonna shine anymore..
That's gotta be it for the E Street Band because I can't see Bruce ever letting anyone replace Clarence.
ReplyDelete"Oh, and while the king was looking down,
ReplyDeleteThe jester stole his thorny crown.
The courtroom was adjourned;
No verdict was returned.
And while lennon read a book of marx,
The quartet practiced in the park,
And we sang dirges in the dark
The day the music died."
RIP
I think Bruce has been touring most of the past 10 or so years without the "E-street Band."
ReplyDeleteLove Clarence's work, but his death should not stop the music. The music should continue, and should make you remember the day you first heard Greetings From Asbury Park.
A very sad day indeed across the world for all of the fans of Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. RIP Clarence and hope you're playing your sax in heaven.
ReplyDeleteNot true- Bruce did two- three new Album tours with E Street since 1998. I'm not saying Bruce won't still write and sing but I find it hard to believe he will give concerts and play BTR or Rosalita or 10th Avenue or Jungleland or Badlands without Clarence, CC made those songs what they are.
ReplyDeleteChange is the Price of Survival.
There's one last Shumie Time for us all. Nobody knows when or how, but it will come. The key is to enjoy life to the fullest and squeeze every last drop of sweet nectar out before the last Shumie takes you away.
ReplyDeleteRIP Big Man.
any info on the DCA nominees?
ReplyDeleteYeah I got the list. I'll post it tomorrow. Circuit
ReplyDeleteJudges j bailey and ivan fernandez head the list
A few lawyers too.
If Bruce tours and doesn't play any of his hits because Clarence is gone, there will be a lot of disappointed fans.
ReplyDeleteI find it hard to believe he would do that.
I guess we will wait and see.
I heard the new game show "Where in the World is Nancy Cayford Wear?" got picked up by NBC. It will be followed by Minute to Win It, and hosted by Real Housewives host Andy Cohen.
ReplyDeleteCan anyone confirm this?
Tragic. Can't forget the first time I saw the band play - at the Main Point in early '75. What a show.
ReplyDeleteI worked with him many years ago and he was a great guy with a heart of gold.
