MORE BREAKING NEWS: It has been rumored for a few months now that the first casualty of the new plan that would cut judges salaries by 30% would be the resignation of Judge Izzy Reyes. We now believe that is official. Judge Reyes will be leaving for a job in the private sector shortly.
We lose an experienced and dedicated jurist today because we get the quality of judges that we pay for.
Oh What A Night! All Judges leaving the bench for the lucrative private sector would be well advised to avoid the night had by one Marc Gold, Esq., who according to South Florida Lawyers, has sued the Gentlemen's Establishment Gold Rush for a night that cost him over 18 grand on his credit card. And the worst part is, according to the complaint, he is doesn't remember most of it!
Rumpole says, if you're going to rack up 18 grand in the champagne room, you should at least get a few memories out of the deal.
BREAKING NEWS: A ROY T GELBER UPDATE! :
Long time denizens of the REGJB remember former Judge Roy T. Gelber. He was indicted in the Courtbroom scandal and ended up testifying for the government against fellow Judges Sepe, Schenberg, Goodhart, et. al. Gelber served a lengthy prison sentence and was released back to our community. Apparently to offend again.
Now comes word from a Miami Herald article that the former Judge who once tried to use bankruptcy to get out of his law school loans is implicated in an airplane parts ponzi scheme.
And to think that an ASA a long time ago once got a conviction reversed when she told a jury that a Tiger doesn't change his stripes. (Bonus points if you get the name of the former ASA correct.)
Like a bad penny, Roy T Gelber keeps turning up at the scenes of crimes in South Florida.

"Rumpole went to the Pharoah Brown and said 'LET THE ATTORNEYS PARK.'.
But the Pharoah's heart was hardened and even now, after two blog posts, he did not let the attorneys park."
the issue is a person is paying money for a service which is being denied.
ReplyDeleteHello aren't the victims in this case lawyers? Then how about you do what you have been trained to do you sue for breach of contract and injunctive relief. Geez, all you do is bitch and bitch and don't use the legal ability that you have. This is a simple issue of breach of contract why do the judges need to mediate. Sue the miami parking authority for allowing the police to take what your $90.00 a month pays for! Either sh_t or get off the pot!
Roy T was a pompous Ass

ReplyDeletegelber has always been a real piece of shit. But,as fat as he is, he was a great handball player. Sy, and Dan are ashamed that roy has dirtied the Gelber name.
ReplyDeleteRoy was a very lack luster judge and we are better off without him. I wondered what he was doing.
ReplyDeleteSepe is not working.
Goodhart is selling cookies with his wife.
Shenberg has a company that helps you deal with going to federal prison.
Lovely people... all of them.
yep, same parking nightmare this morning. Especially after a 3-day weekend, everyone should know to get there earlier than usual. I got to the parking lot at 7:45, got coffee, shot the breeze at au bon pain for a while, went back to get my files at 9:15 and got followed by so many police vehicles that I thought I was smoking a joint and waiving a gun at the same time!!!!!. fml.
ReplyDeleteRumpole, please settle a dispute. I'm a PD my GF is an ex-ASA and we got into a fight over this: the guy who is known as "the 007 of Duis" is he or is he not also "johnny no slope"?
ReplyDeleteis he also The Q? If not, who exactly is The Q?

ReplyDelete8:09, if you close your eyes long enough, you become the Q.
ReplyDeletefor $500, I get a pretty damn good memory for Tootsies. Marc Gold was ripped off.
ReplyDeleteIf they can do this in Broward why can't they do this in Miami-Dade?
ReplyDeletehttp://weblogs.sun-sentinel.com/news/politics/broward/blog/2011/04/county_to_cops_no_more_free_pa.html
Why does anyone think Judge Brown has any control over the parking lot situation? The lot is owed and operated by either the City of Miami or Miami-Dade County. Whoever you make your check payable to is who you should be complaining to. The lots DO NOT belong to the Court.
ReplyDelete"We now believe that it is official."
ReplyDeleteAwesome.

While we are at it, what about the police officers who park and obstruct the handicap ramps on the sidewalks????? I've got a collection of pictures on that. You should start a submit your best photo link of police officers violating the law around the court house as well as best lot 26 picture!
ReplyDeleteWho's the next judge to leave?
ReplyDeleteIzzy is one of the few judges who can command a big salary in private practice. Most of these hacks who wear the black robes can not get a job in the private sector, thats why they are judges. exception are Emmas, Stan, thorton and a few others.
ReplyDeleteizzy will do very well. 10:00, u are a moron.
ReplyDeleteThis is waht the Herald says about Roy T. Gelber:
ReplyDelete"The company listed as an officer Roy Gelber, a former Miami-Dade judge famously convicted in the Operation Court Broom corruption probe. He is not the target of the probe, according to a law enforcement source. He, too, could not be reached."

or the ones who park on the on ramp to E/B 836......
ReplyDeleteRump, you got the Herald article wrong. Gelber was not implicated in this case. The Herald article says specifically that he is not a target. And there is a reason for that. I knew Roy in the 80's. i was never partner with him in a heist. He would rob me blind.
ReplyDeletedoes that mean that the Gov. will do another appointment or is the spot open for election?
ReplyDeleteDid Marc Gold get hit by the "B-girls" of South Beach?
ReplyDeleteLMAO!! Who cares! I've been paying to park in the lot across the street and charged hourly for the last 15 + years. For those of us lawyers who actually bill expenses to our clients, its not really a problem. For all that time, the little piggies from MiamiDade, FHP, and elsewhere parked in that lot taking up valuable real estate. And nobody complained to any judges then. Now the shoe's on the other foot. Tough crap. Suck it up. Switch parking lots. Or vandalize the little piggie patrol cars. Nails in tires can be done very discretely.
