Later this month there will be a civil rights panel discussion and reception on February 23 from 4-6 pm in the jury room (5th floor), moderated by Professor Charles Ogletree
You can RSVP at 305-523-590
If you've been perusing DOM's blog you may notice a slight similarity between our posts. Here's a helpful hint: When a federal judge asks for a favour in promoting an event, even an anonymous blogger doesn't say no.
Ps. You can go to the Ogletree event and find out about David when he was a 1L squirt on the Charles River.
AL MILIAN DUI DISMISSED
Take a bow Uber Defense Attorneys Bill Matthewman and Alan Shuminer. Judge Ginger Lerner-Wren granted the motion to suppress. The order is here. West Palm ASA won't be appealing. Hat tip JAA Blog and others...
shuminer you should have thrown this one
ReplyDeletepost copy of motion.
ReplyDeleteBig win for the big fella. Automatically puts him back on top of the DUI rankings (remember those?) and it's a big win in his life/death struggle with the Q not to mention the L&L twins in the battle for Dade DUI supremacy.
ReplyDeleteJudge Brown was re-elected to another term as Chief Judge--no opposition. Congratulations Judge!
ReplyDeleteA family works less and balences it budget by cutting the kids allowence? Cut 1.4 Bil in School Prop Taxes and make State Employees make up the difference in Pension contributions?

THE FLORIDA BUDGET
Scott: Workers must pay own way for a pension
.Florida's governor is proposing that state and local workers contribute to their retirement accounts to close the state's massive budget deficit.
BUT READ MORE:
The governor's office would not disclose how it calculated the projected savings of $2.8 billion.
Legislative analysts estimate that requiring employees to contribute 5 percent of their salaries would save closer to $890 million a year -- with $500 million coming from school district personnel, $300 million from county workers and only about $90 million from state workers

Hey at least this time Al Milian didn't punch out the guy.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't deserve to win. He was a true nut job as a prosecutor. He beat people up, he insulted jurors, and he went crazy with defense lawyers.
I was looking forward to his jury trial so that this time when he called the jurors, "lobodimized zombies and morons" he would have a personal reason for saying that. (Assuming he was convicted)
Hey Al, consider this a gift and next time don't drink so much before you drive.

ReplyDeleteEveryone else contributes to their pension, perhaps is true. But Gov. Ric did NOT Contribute to his Golden Parachute derived from funds stolen from MediCare. Remember that Those in non Govt jobs, who contribute to their pension, make more $$ ; In State jobs we get a lot less salary ,and our Benis , including our pension makes up for the lower pay for our job.
Remember it only cost $38 a year per FLA resident to pay for State workers Salary AND BENIs. That AINT alot, so why is the Budget balenced on our backs?. Why simply cause 1: Its easy we have no voice and 2: Cause once again Workers/ Labor are turned into the Bad Guys and demonized. We have reverted to the attitudes against Labor from a Hundred years ago. Total costs of State Workers Pension ( Non police Non Fireman Non Teachers) is ONLY $90 Million a Year.
Remember, Also that Our Pension Fund is considered solvent. Also dont forget that Gov. Ricky wants to cut 1.4 BILLION in School taxes and make up that $ by not paying pension contribution ( bait n switch) though how 800 Million ( w. cops, fire n Teachers)eguals 1.4 Bil is a question.
