Imagine if we didn't live in a society where handgun violence was so accepted and where even mentally ill people have no trouble getting guns.
The (CDC) estimated 52,447 deliberate and 23,237 accidental non-fatal gunshot injuries in the United States during 2000. Compare that with a total of just over 58,000 casualties for the entire Vietnam war. It's a war every year on US streets.
It's nice to imagine. Nothing happens, nothing ever gets achieved or created until one person says "hey...Imagine if we could...."
Fake Al Jezzera Golf Channel reports breaking news! Dubia Open headquarters reports that 3 belly dancers from the harem of Sheik Abdul Abdul, God be blessed, have been having an 18 month affair with The Tigered One, God be praised. The Sheik had arranged this affair in exchange for his Tigerness to give lessons to his 12 sons on how to pick up chicks, God be parised, at moderately priced family restraunts in America and Europe. The lessons have gone well and the dancers have been satisfied, praise God. Photos as they become available.
ReplyDeleteCorrection. There were 58,000 deaths in Viet Nam, but many, many more casualties besides the deaths.

Nothing to live or die for;
And no religion too."
Rumpole,
ReplyDeleteI am disappointed. A post about Judge Butchko, but nothing about Pearl Harbor. I say we take a belated moment of silence to always remember the sacrifices of those before us and those still with us, particularly on such a day as December 7.

THE CAPTAIN REPORTS:
ReplyDeleteNews & Notes ......
Some of your more seasoned readers may remember Paula Hawkins, former United States Senator from our great State of Florida.
In 1980, she became the first woman elected to a full Senate term without a family political connection. She died last Friday at the age of 82.
During her single six-year term in the U.S. Senate, the Republican positioned herself as a media-savvy champion of children and working mothers and an enemy of drug dealers. She lost her bid for a second term in 1986 to then-Gov. Bob Graham.
She was the first woman senator elected from the South and the first woman from any state elected to a full Senate term who was not the wife or daughter of a politician. Nebraska businesswoman Hazel Abel, who also had no political family ties, was elected from that state in 1954 to serve the final two months in the term of a senator who had died in office.
And in News "North of The Border", our own Mark Panunzio .....
Suspended Broward County Commissioner Josephus Eggelletion is scheduled to plead guilty Thursday to a federal corruption charge.
Eggelletion, who pleaded not guilty to a money laundering charge late last month, has a change of plea hearing in West Palm Beach 10 a.m. Thursday. He faces a maximum of five years in prison.
Prosecutors say Eggelletion tried to enrich himself by laundering money through bank accounts and by evading federal taxes on about $18,200 in cash payments. He is accused of conspiring with two Broward businessmen, Ron Owens and Joel Williams, and Bahamian attorney Sidney Cambridge.
Owens' attorney Mark Panunzio said Monday that he expects that his client will ultimately plead guilty. Federal authorities ``have tons of tapes. They were on a wiretap for months,'' he said. ``They have videotape, they have wire tape. They have done their homework on this.''
Nice quotes Mark - and they spelled your name right too.
And closer to home, at the GJB, why not drop by Judge BB's courtroom and see the Opening Statements in what should prove to be a very exciting trial between the State (Richard Scruggs) and the Defense (Michael Tein) as they "slug" it out over the guilt or innocence of the Reverend Gaston Smith on his Grand Theft charge.
Cap Out .....
I wonder if John Lennon was an ARA (Ayn Rand asshole--borrowed from the GQ article about AR). Somehow I doubt it, although Yoko probabaly is one.
ReplyDeleteAgree with 9:47 AM Rump: You are not one of these people who wants to forget about Americans being attacked on American soil, let alone anywhere else, are you?
ReplyDeleteRoosevelt didn't announce he would pull the plug in 18 months if we did not get Hirohito?
I didn't see how our current President observed Pearl Harbor Day yesterday. There was too much news about Tiger.
Dear Lennon Enthusiast,
ReplyDeleteIf you believe that John Lennon’s music and life signify a great event in human culture and history, and you sense that, yes, “Love is the answer,” as he sang; and that, yes “Love is the underlying theme to the universe,” as he said in an interview ‒ then you are on the mark, as is proven by Lennon’s own 28 representative songs, with and without the Beatles, and interviews – as shown on our website (“Lennon Love-Studies” sidebar) .
It has been my long-term task to bring this revelation, if I may call it that, to the public in a 3-volume desktop book, including a Lennon love-studies format that can be used privately, in groups, and in college courses.
For a look at this magnificent venture, you can turn to my website, www.ofloveandtheman.net .
