This was the scene this afternoon in a REGJB Courtroom as Rumpole was conducting a devastating cross examination:
Rumpole: "Are you sure you saw my client officer?"
Officer: Yup.
Rumpole: if you're lying, lightening may strike.
Officer: if you say so.
Channel Seven Reports that Turkey Point (motto: "it's cool to glow at night" and "read our new pamphlet: seven fun facts about radiation poisoning" ) shut down two reactors causing the power outage across the state.
Channel Seven is also reporting Castro is behind all of this.
No truth to the rumor that this happened:
JA: Judge Farina, did you pay the FPL bill this month?
Farina: Uhho....
As of 3:00 PM it appears that power is being restored to Dade County and by all indications court will be open for tomorrow's Wednesday sounding calendars.
Stay Tuned.
Dudes. Who turned out the lights? Like the escalators aren't even running. Dude!
ReplyDeleteFunny, we had power over here by Jax Medical Towers.
ReplyDeleteWe had three hard spikes of power and the computers went crazy but, we kept our power on.
Mike Catalano
Funny How? I amuse you without power? You think me not having power and sweating my ass off here in the dark is funny? Huh, Hendry? Is my lack of power amusing? I am here to make you laugh?
ReplyDeleteNo Power? No Court? Nuclear Power plant problems?
ReplyDelete(all at once please)
SOMEBODY CALL THE Q!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Mr. Fake Joe Pesci,
ReplyDeleteHe said "funny" not that it was funny that you were sweating but, that it was funny how one area had power and almost all others did not.
That is another reason why people hate lawyers. (Assuming you are a lawyer)

THE CAPTAIN REPORTS:
ReplyDeleteELECTION REFLECTION 2006
It has been just over 12 months since the 2006 elected judges took office (in January of 2007).
We would like some feedback on how these new judges are "judging". Please try and limit your responses to situations where you have actually been in court and seen the judge in action. Gratuitous comments won't help the judge become a better judge if you really don't know what you are speaking about.
Here is the list:
VALERIE MANNO SCHURR (Juvenile)
TONY MARIN (Criminal)
MARISA TINKLER MENDEZ (Juvy)
PATRICIA MARINO PEDRAZA (Civil-SDJC)
ROBIN FABER (Civil-SDJC)
VICTORIA DEL PINO (Crim. - SDJC)
GLORIA GONZALEZ MEYER (Civil-SDJC)
DON COHN (Civil-NDJC)
JOSE FERNANDEZ (Criminal)
Have at it .

ReplyDeleteMy computer's power supply started smoking. I'll find out Thursday if there's anything left of the motherboard and hard-drives.
ReplyDeleteAnybody think John Thompson will actually appear for his show cause hearing?
ReplyDeleteCan one of the federal sentencing classification experts on this blog explain to me how Micheal Vick--who, as I recall, was sentence to 24 months in prison--ended up in the Leavenworth Federal Penitentiary. I've had two clients in Leavenworth and both were serving life sentences. This looks suspiciously like U.S. Government vindictiveness or even racism. I wonder how many white guys with 24 month sentences are in Leavenworth.
ReplyDeleteWhere were you when the lights went out?

(at the computer) Fake Slom: "memo to all Judges. It has come to my attention that on Tuesdays where there is a Monday off and Wednesday is a date that is a prime number, there is a three fold increase in the number of lost and found items logged in at the REGJB. Therefore, by the power vested in my by the Governor of the State of Florida, I hereby order all individuals wishing to enter the justice building too....DAMN!!! I didn't save the memo and now the lights went out."
WHERE WERE YOU?
I have seen Pedraza in several trials. She is very courteous to the jury and takes her time in explaining the process. She is also very good with the lawyers, having prepared on the issues and asking good questions on issues. She also makes a ruling and gives a reason. All in all we give her two thumbs up.
ReplyDeleteNice review of yourself Judge
ReplyDeletei want to take a second this glorious morning to ask a simple question: is there not a single democrat who has the guts and the desire to make a run for public defender against carlos martinez?
ReplyDeletehe has NO MONEY
To 8:09 am Re: Pedraza:
ReplyDeleteThey dont have jury trials in SDGC. How can you have seen her in one?
I suspect Vick is in Leavenworth for his own protection. The inmates are more dangerous, but the prison population control is much tighter.
ReplyDeleteTHE BLACKOUT WAS CAUSED BY CHARLEY CRIST'S SUNTAN LOTION BOTTLE SPILLING INTO THE MAIN CONTROLS OF THE NUCLEAR REACTOR(THAT IS HIS TANNING SECRET)(YOU HEARD IT HEAR FIRST! HE WAS GETTING READY FOR ANOTHER CAMPAIGN STOP WITH MCCAIN !
ReplyDeleteI had the unfortunate opportunity to appear before former Judge Ivan Hernandez (after 3 mo's of trying to get a hearing from the damm JA).
ReplyDeleteI have appeared before Judge Pedraza and have had to communicate with her lovely JA. I must say that the SDJC dishes out fair impartial justice with a side of access to the Courts.
Judge Pedraza keep up the good work.
Mike Catalano will always have power, in his head.
ReplyDeleteMike, why dont you go try to get someone fired.
Michael Vick is in Leavenworth so he can complete an in-jail drug treatment program, which will also allow him more gain time.

ReplyDeleteNo, I don't think Jack will show up at the show cause hearing (he doesn't have to). But have you seen the court docket. He has filed 11 pleadings since the order to show cause was issued.
roy is a great lawyer

Wanna see FACDL getting spanked by the Florida Supreme Court?

Droopy, representing Charlie Crist, went unchallenged as the justices took advantage of his 20 minute monotone to limber up, apply Ben-Gay and tape-up.
Once Sonya Rudenstein took the lectern, it was a tag team match with each justice taken a turn diving from the ropes to drop an elbow or knee into the gut of FACDL's attorney. The highlight was certainly Fred Lewis' justly famous pile driver.
Hey Rump. For you older readers, Former judge Harvey Shenberg was released from prison on Monday after serving 13 years for racketeering/bribery. He was the last of the courtbroom defendants to get out of jail.
