APPLICANTS SWARM FOR JUDGE BLAKE'S SPOT

Twenty-two lawyers (including some county court judges)  with visions of black robes dancing in their heads have filed to replace Judge Blake on the bench.

Bonus trivia question: Who did Judge Blake succeed on the bench and how did he get his spot?

Query: How does the JNC not send up Milena Abreu who ran a fantastic campaign and lost by the less than one percentage point?

See you in court.

Milena would be a magnificent judge. She is a talented woman with a great sense of fairness.

It's Bocanegra time baby. Tanned. Rested. ready to judge.

Milena ran a great campaign? Really? She raised almost no money and
targeted a Black judge for obvious reasons. I beg to differ.

One of the County Court ex-ASA's will get this one. It is becoming all so predictable to guess this stuff with this Governor. The JNC
will throw in one black name in the 6 but they won't get it.

Your final 6 will be -

Dimitris
Del Pino
Mansfield
Graham
Wolfson
Multack

Stop playing the Race Card please! If you are white running against a Black Judge you are a racist.? Really! With no money and Milena lost by less than one percent. How popular this Judge was?

Hit em with the Hein

Hopefully we get a Judge who's JA actually answers the phone, unlike Judge Areces' JA who doesn't even bother answering phones or returning messages concerning Emergency Motions.

Wolfson or Multack are the best choices here.

Wolfson has the Conservative credentials, smart, willing to listen and learn and a former ASA.

As for Milena Abreu and Seraphin...Seraphin drew opposition because he's been a dick. Period.

Lurvey gets the nod. Brennan campaign manager.

There are so many dickhead white judges - Brennan, Hirsch, Hague, Venzer just to name a few but they never get opposition. Graham is a great guy and got opposition. Rodney Smith is a great guy and got opposition. Seraphin may not be a great guy to all but he got opposition because he is black and perceived as not being able to raise the same amount of money and interest as the white judges. You can claim race had nothing to do with it to make yourself feel better, but you are just avoiding the truth about our society and institutional racism.

Hirsch is such an arrogant little man. Spend an hour in his courtroom and watch how he treats the attorneys that appear before him. It's like he waits for any opportunity to criticize and show his power. And he is very rude to family members of defendants

You may think Hirsch is a dickhead, but he is also extremely intelligent and courageous, in the sense that he is willing to write highly unpopular decisions while holding an elected position. Never really understood the animus on this site towards him. So he's full of himself; he's earned the right to that.

STOP RIGHT NOW WITH THE DICKHEAD AND OTHER AD HOMINEM ATTACKS.
We are lawyers.
Here's how we do it.

"I don't like this judge. S/he is arrogant. Is late. Treats lawyers badly. Treats clients worse. Favors the state."

ETC
Dickhead, short, tall, thin, fat, won't be printed.
Since race unfortunately has become an issue again when it should have been resolved in 1970 (and quite frankly is resolved among millennials who really don't give a shjit about someone's race or sexual orientation and good for them for that) I will print comments about race and judges and the law. An article in the NY Times today quotes Justice Sotomayor's dissent last year on race, and opines that race will now be a big issue in the court's criminal law cases this year. So race is a topic. But dickhead is not.

Got it?

Stan Blake did not succeed anyone on the bench. He was elected to a seat that was newly created by the legislature in 1994. Unfortunately, the reason I know this bit of trivia is that Stan beat me in an election for that seat! Except for the final result and the amount of my own money I blew, running for office was a great experience. Stan and I remain friends.

Blake ran for an open seat that was a new division in 1994.

intelligent + courageous = reversal

Like I said before, you are white running against black you are a racist.

What a RETARD!

Have any of you come across Maria Osbourne from the Miami Public Defender's Office at the Children's CH lately? I haven't thank God. The few times I have she has been one angry female dog. The woman barely shows up to work and when she does she trashes the judges who "allow" the state to direct file, like if they can stop it. Let me know what your take is on that because they are trying to legislate that issue in Tallahassee.
