MONDAY MYSTERY

We are in that in-between time for Judges when their summer vacation has ended and the holiday slow down has not yet begun. So the only thing left to do is try some cases and listen to the prosecution eloquently say “victim wants max.”

Broweird

Anybody see the story of the Broward judge who went to first appearance for a friend, identified himself as a Judge to the ASA and asked for a lower bond and then appeared on the record as counsel for the defendant? It didn’t make a bigger  splash because this being Broward, dog bites man just isn’t news. The only redeeming part of the story is he didn’t wear his robe whilst making the appearance.

Clerk’s Office Mystery

Everyone knows we love a good clerk’s office mystery. There have been so many good ones over the years.

Does anybody know what this means?

So is this window just for the Herald ? Does the Herald even have a dedicated courts reporter these days for state court ? Or is it for social media where IG influencers can drop by, shoot a video and post it?

Hey I’m here at the Miami criminal court house and I just had some yummy Cuban toast and a cafe con leche and now I’m at the Clerks office on 9 and it’s so cool you all should come by and check it out.”

So what’s going on because we don’t get it.

    1. It’s just ROC not ROC Court. ROC stands for Repeat Offender Court. Don’t need to say Repeat Offender Court Court. It’s kangaroo enough already.

    2. Good. Lock them up. Can't have repeat offenders out here murdering like the one who brutally stabbed the Ukranian women Iryna Zarutska on the train. Who cares why they repeat, lock them up. Putting body cams on the police have shown who the problem is. Libtards thought they'd catch all this police corruption and false arrests, instead everyday a new video comes out showing who the problem is.

  3. Always felt it should be ARoc as in “ALLEGED “ or “Accused” repeat offender. Or is the presumption of innocence removed when you’re a repeat offender ?

    1. Does that mean we all work in alleged criminal courts, too?

  4. Interesting what you say about Broward, since your own blog thought he’d be a good judge. Broward voters play identity politics. Four judges they’re currently in trouble with the JQC, all ELECTED.

Very happy for former Dade ASA Woody. He will bring some real life experience and fairness to the Bench. Much needed up there.

  5. ROC is repeat offender bc by definition to qualify as ROC and any of the enhancements as HO, HVO etc you need at least two prior felony convictions.

  6. There are some aspiring thespians working for the clerk. They want the (old school) media to show up at the window, cameras at the ready, so each one of our efficient clerks can look into the lens and proclaim: "alright, Mr. Demille, I am ready for my close up."

  7. Ever notice half of the bench signs at REG say “We who labor here seek only truth”
    the other half say…
“We who labor here seek only THE truth?” Thoughts?

  8. Woody has no ideal what the hell he is doing. Sam Stark would have been a much better selection.

  9. Woody knew, or should have known, better. He's too nice of a guy who will go out of his way to help someone, though.

  10. Woody news is old news. He is smarter than most people who don’t know him on this blog give him credit for. Yes he is a nice guy but he also knows what he is going.

  12. President Trump suggested on Monday that offenses that “take place in the home” should not count against his record of crime reduction in Washington, saying his opponents are using reports of “a little fight with the wife” to undermine his crackdown.

And now DV is pushed to the back burner again
